neon being discontinuedsv650s 12-03-2005, 09:37 PM somebody tell me if this old news but i just picked up a new issue of car and driver and i found out that after the 2006 model that neon would discontinued and replaced with the caliber. i thought the car was doing good after they released the srt-4 version and why would dodge replace their best sports car with a suv? 97 neon 12-03-2005, 09:54 PM people at dodge must be dumb, release the srt-4 and 3 yrs later discontinue it..but i like my 97 highline..great car, people at dodge need to get there head out there ass...fix all the big problems with the head gasket and kill them off....stupid people das2123 12-04-2005, 11:01 AM It's not Dodge making the decision, it's DCX. But yes the neon is over and done with. But the modding will continue... neon_rt 12-05-2005, 11:43 AM I am hoping DCX will make the Caliber easy to mod and provide some dealer installable parts (like the SRT) for it. After looking at the engine technology used, easy mods might be out of the mix. Variable valve timing and variable intake porting could easily get so messed up that you can't make any power or be tuned so you can kick anyone's back side from here to the middle of next week. To be certain most mods will have to be accompanied by high quality software mods to make it work right. Also, the transmission is a computer controlled CVT, we can have some fun reprogrammming that too! das2123 12-05-2005, 12:42 PM DCX should release this version of the caliber :iceslolan http://gallery.srtforums.com/photopost/data/1/medium/P1010132.JPG blow of valve 12-05-2005, 05:38 PM somebody tell me if this old news but i just picked up a new issue of car and driver and i found out that after the 2006 model that neon would discontinued and replaced with the caliber. i thought the car was doing good after they released the srt-4 version and why would dodge replace their best sports car with a suv? that fucken sucks i better start running and get me one blow of valve 12-05-2005, 05:40 PM thats fucken stupid its a good car they shouldnt do that Miguel M. 01-22-2006, 09:05 PM Hello guys, My name is Miguel and I am a Marketing Representative with the Dodge Information Center. I see that you all are aware that the Dodge Caliber is set to launch in to production for the 2007 model year. To clarify, the all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber (http://www.dodge.com/mktcode/index.html?pid=Forum&adid=Caliber_FI_Auto&actionURL=http://www.dodge.com/caliber/in_the_news.html) is not replacing the Dodge Neon, rather it is being introduced as the newest vehicle in the Dodge lineup. The discontinuance and launch of these two vehicles is purely coincidental. Have you guys had a chance to check out the Dodge Caliber via the Dodge website? If not, I have provided the link for your convenience below. If you have any questions/comments regarding the vehicle, feel free to post. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. DCX couldnt care less, and once they get your money from teh purchase of the car, they refuse to do anything to help you out. last bit of warranty work cost me $1000 (yes, warranty work cost me a grand!) plus it took them 5 weeks to replace my tranny, to which DCX said too bad, thats a dealer issue. also, they dented my fender, istalled my clutch improperly, and did other bits of assorted damage, again to which DCX said thats your problem with the dealer, we dont really care, its up to you to deal with it. the dealer said no and DCX said, well it sucks to be you Miguel M. 02-26-2006, 11:54 PM Well, if you guys happed to have any additional questions/comments regarding the all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber (http://www.dodge.com/mktcode/index.html?pid=Forum&adid=Caliber_FI_Auto&actionURL=http://www.dodge.com/caliber/index.html), feel free to post. Regards, Miguel M. Ok Miguel, I'm telling you straight up that the Caliber is going to be a flop. I understand discountinuing the neon/srt4 but you could have made up the money that you plan on making but won't make with the Caliber by keeping the SRT4 around for 2 or so more years and then getting rid of it. Miguel M. 03-06-2006, 04:35 PM Hello again guys, Thank you all for the honest feedback. The time and effort you took to communicate your opinion is appreciated. Constructive criticism of the kind offered in your note is always a welcomed and important way of getting feedback. It is a help in providing the greatest possible satisfaction for customers. Miguel M. 03-18-2006, 11:16 PM Once more, I would like to offer our services to anyone interested in information regarding the all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber (http://www.dodge.com/mktcode/index.html?pid=Forum&adid=Caliber_FI_Auto&actionURL=http://www.dodge.com/caliber/index.html). It would be my pleasure to of assistance. I'll be around. Miguel M. TEXSRT4 03-19-2006, 01:55 AM guys, its not going to be a flop, its going to be very sucessful. its just going to loose a certain market segment, but it will pick up a lot more. it will loose most performance oriented guys, except for the guys who are hott to get cars like the toyota matrix xrs, and the such. remember, most of the neons on the road are being driven by young families, middle aged couples, or old ladies. these people are going to still buy the caliber, as are those who originally turned down the neon because they wanted somthing more roomy. plus it has lots of "cool"interior features, that some are interested in. they will gain a large family/college student market at the cost of the pathetic performance market. remember guys, we still have honda/acuras, cobalts/ions (including the SS/redline models), evos, subarus, solstice/sky, 350z/g35, sentra SE-R, rx-8, mazda 3/6, etc. there is still a large number of pocket rockets available, plus, there are plenty of used cool tuner cars available. never forget guys, DCX doesnt care for you or your opinnion, they are just interested in your paycheck. but even moreso, they are intersted in as many wallets as possiable, and unfortunately we are a small market segment. p.s. miguel, i would absolutely love to hear why the srt variation will not be AWD, and yet the R/T is? how does that work, more power, less traction? you guys are running a chassis that is capable of doing it, use it! i want to know why dodge is scared to compete against the evo. im sure we all want to know maykelcj 03-20-2006, 09:32 AM p.s. miguel, i would absolutely love to hear why the srt variation will not be AWD, and yet the R/T is? how does that work, more power, less traction? you guys are running a chassis that is capable of doing it, use it! i want to know why dodge is scared to compete against the evo. im sure we all want to know being a Marketing Representative for the Dodge Information Center, one of my primary functions is to propagate the most official information regarding what Dodge is currently offering. Any questions that are beyond the scope of the available official information that we possess, I can only comment on a personal standpoint; this, can be misleading. Talk to you soon, Miguel M. HE KNOWS NOTHING!! HE IS Just SELLING!!! ozzman87 03-20-2006, 09:56 AM i think that dodge needs to put out something that can more directly compete with the mustangs. thats right, i'm talking about the challenger. im sure any of you who have seen the concepts can agree that those cars would be a huge hit. maykelcj 03-20-2006, 03:28 PM count on me for the challenger!!!!! I love how it looks and I bet I will love the performance too. on the other hand we need to kick some imports a.s.s. TEXSRT4 03-20-2006, 07:33 PM the problem with that is that they cant compete with the imports. they get worse mileage, have awful body lines, crappy cheap interiors, and dont perform nearly as well. yes the srt was quick in a straight line, but counldnt compete with subaru or mitsubishi. yay...they beat the honda/acura...big deal, its once again that dodge has dropped the ball and missed out on their potential. sv650s 03-20-2006, 10:31 PM i think that dodge needs to put out something that can more directly compete with the mustangs. thats right, i'm talking about the challenger. im sure any of you who have seen the concepts can agree that those cars would be a huge hit. it kinda does compete with mustangs, it runs 14's in straight line.Just saw it in automobile magazine today, both have the same horsepower so i guess either this thing is light as hell or the mustang needs to go on jenny craig TEXSRT4 03-20-2006, 11:22 PM what mustang? the 05/06 GT runs 13.5's. the caliber has the drag coefficient of a brick, heavy, and is FWD maykelcj 03-21-2006, 02:12 AM I was not talking about the caliper. aldough, I think we need to improve the automobile industry a lot in order to compete with imports. maykelcj 03-21-2006, 02:18 AM yay...they beat the honda/acura...big deal, its once again that dodge has dropped the ball and missed out on their potential. I was watching some ACCA road racing yesterday and there were 3 SRT4s their final places were (shame:disappoin ) 13th, 20th, 23rd every car beat the hell out of them. TEXSRT4 03-21-2006, 09:53 PM it really depends on which race. if done right the srt's are killer. they were in the top5 in last years one lap race!!! they are first in their ralley class. etc maykelcj 03-23-2006, 01:55 AM thanks I was getting disappointed......... but why they never get the attention they deserve? why is it that every time I turn on the TV all I see are imports? that really blows. TEXSRT4 03-23-2006, 10:38 PM numbers...there were less than 35,000 srts made. evo/suby/honda numbers are significantly higher...hence you see more of them das2123 03-24-2006, 08:58 AM numbers...there were less than 35,000 srts made.Is that from 2004-2006? If so, there are fewer than that out there now. You can find wrecked ones all over eBay now. At least one a week, it seems! TEXSRT4 03-27-2006, 06:03 PM yeah das, that was production numbers. there are hundreds if not thousands less now!!! maykelcj 03-27-2006, 08:03 PM I got to get my hands in one before becomes a rare colector's car. das2123 03-28-2006, 03:19 PM I got to get my hands in one before becomes a rare colector's car.I doubt it will ever be a collector's car. maykelcj 03-28-2006, 11:48 PM well that we will never know for the next 25 or so years sheetmagnet 03-29-2006, 01:51 AM gotta leave it stock though lol das2123 03-29-2006, 08:36 AM gotta leave it stock though lolThat's true! It would need to be unmolested. sheetmagnet 03-29-2006, 11:48 PM That's true! It would need to be unmolested. ... well we know Michael Jackson ain't buying them so the used market should be safe... das2123 03-30-2006, 08:28 AM That's true!
