My Clutch Is out........I Think.neon_323 12-03-2005, 02:20 AM Life is a bitch, I fix something on my car, & one week later something else goes. Well I was driving, & came to a stop, the car made a weird shake when I took it out of gear. So I hit a right turn, & out of nowhere, I hear the motor shake when I took off, then I took it out of gear, & hear something....like metal braking, or ripping. Right away, feeling it came from the tranny. So I try to put it in gear, no way, my foot when all the way to the bottom, with no pressure on the clutch pedal. Dont know if the clutch is out. Mostlikely, I have been burning it, via racing, & all kinds of stuff. Well in advance, Thanks. 97 neon 12-03-2005, 09:59 PM slave cylinder maybe neon_323 12-03-2005, 10:34 PM Where is this located, is it the one that pushes the clutch, the cable. neon_323 12-03-2005, 10:35 PM slave cylinder maybe Where is this located, is it the one that pushes the clutch, the cable. 97 neon 12-03-2005, 10:48 PM well do this first, take your foot off the clutch and manually bring it back up, if it takes off, then it is the slave cylinder, if this is the case the slave cylinder is a major pain in the ass to replace...if you want to know how to do it...email me at ford23@verizon.net...alot of stuff to do neon_323 12-03-2005, 10:52 PM well do this first, take your foot off the clutch and manually bring it back up, if it takes off, then it is the slave cylinder, if this is the case the slave cylinder is a major pain in the ass to replace...if you want to know how to do it...email me at ford23@verizon.net...alot of stuff to do Well the gears only go in when the car is off, when its on not a chance, at first they where, but then they wouldnt go in at all. If I turn the car on with gear the car starts to move even if I hold the clutch all the way down. 97 neon 12-04-2005, 01:26 AM if i were you i would go ahead and replace the clutch, if that happen say bye to your pressure plate...ebay sells really cheap clutches and there top line neon_323 12-04-2005, 01:58 AM if i were you i would go ahead and replace the clutch, if that happen say bye to your pressure plate...ebay sells really cheap clutches and there top line Saach's clutch, is the way to go in this situation, for 170, the whole clutch kit. But....one thing, I have done everything myself to my car, & so far so good, I have learned my lesson with taking the car to a "MECHANIC". So is it that hard to change the clutch, other wise Im gonna have to waste some $200-$300. 97 neon 12-04-2005, 05:09 PM yeah it is, but find someone you can trust, shop around 99 Neon R/T 12-05-2005, 04:54 PM changing a clutch is a bitch.I have put 2 trannys in my 99 neon.I had a problem with the diff throwing the pin through the bellhousing. You definately will want a detailed shop manual if you try it yourself.I am warning you now even with the book it isnt alot of fun.Reading word for word the first time it took me about 14 hours non stop by myself.I had a haynes manual and it was fairly detailed.I am not sure about chiltons.I hope that helps some. neon_323 12-05-2005, 05:14 PM changing a clutch is a bitch.I have put 2 trannys in my 99 neon.I had a problem with the diff throwing the pin through the bellhousing.
