Do i need to take off intake before smog check?khead717 06-03-2002, 04:23 AM Will I fail the smog check if i have a CAI and a muffler?? sparq 06-03-2002, 06:32 AM Depends, what CAI and muffler do you have? Most are 50 state legal... but when in doubt, replace it :frog: 95cvccvx 06-03-2002, 10:48 PM nothing too much you can do with the muffler cuz its welded. The intake replace with your stock. That way it will past the visual and it will become more lean and hot help with lowering the emissions. I have intake and fail the visual (stupid) then replace with stock and past both test. I live in cali khead717 06-04-2002, 12:39 AM i have a no-brand CAI... this sucks, i don't know how to replace the intake....i don't wanna pay the shop to do it.:( drift 06-04-2002, 12:56 AM Originally posted by 95cvccvx nothing too much you can do with the muffler cuz its welded. I live in cali the stock intake will not cause the motor to run leaner. the ecu is working in closed loop with the O2 sensor at idle, therefore it's constantly adjusting the fuel mixture on it's own. intake doesnt make a difference. delsolguy 06-04-2002, 01:06 AM Originally posted by khead717 i don't know how to replace the intake....i don't wanna pay the shop to do it.:( Dude...it's not that hard. Even if you have absolutely no mechanical experience. Just take a screwdriver and a socket set and go look at the thing. It should be pretty self-explanatory. ReD_eK_CiViC 06-04-2002, 03:36 PM i have the exact same problem and i need to take my intake off of my d16y7.......im afraid that i might mess up so do guys know of any sites that explains how to put back my stock intake step by step? xivera 06-04-2002, 05:32 PM Originally posted by khead717 Will I fail the smog check if i have a CAI and a muffler?? As long as it's a sniffer test, no. I've had my car tested for emissions (w/ APEXi intake/N2 header/Greddy PE exhaust) and she passed w/ no problems at all. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
