freeze plugs wont come out :(typeblu 12-02-2005, 05:33 PM yea so i got a 64 nova inline 6 and i pulled the exhaust and intake off and i got nice open access to the plugs, so i went to try to pop one out due to not have a drill i used a flathead screwdriver as a chisel and put it against one edge and hit it with a hammer cause i hear it knocks em loose and then you can pull em out with pliers or whatever, it even shows how to do it in my chilton's manual, so yea i did it and it just popped a hole in the plug, the fluid all drained fine and then i tried some more, wouldnt budge, so i used the pliers cause i can get in there fine, and the plug is just falling apart, maybe cause its so old and corroded, its just breaking to pieces, so i stopped, if i pull the whole plug out, the ring is gonna be stuck in there stillanyone got any ideas how to get it out? i should prolly borrow a drill for the other two D: curtis73 12-02-2005, 08:21 PM Try using a heavier mallet and a drift; something that you can really whack and not punch a hole. A socket extension works pretty well. They might be pretty corroded, but a few good whacks should get it sideways, then you can with pliers and just work it out typeblu 12-02-2005, 08:29 PM any idea how to get the one thats breaking apart out?
