security alarm goes off when checking error codes?ns driver 12-01-2005, 10:40 PM Is it normal for the security alarm to go off when you try checking error codes? how does one go about completely un hooking the security system on a '93 jgc 5.2l? dksob81 12-02-2005, 08:03 AM Are you sure your not turning the key to far forward. When the engine is not successfully started within a few attempt the alarm will turn on (ussually horn honks and lights flash 2 times). I think you maybe turning the key to far forward and engaging the starter. Just turn it far enough that the dash lights come on, then OFF, then ON, then OFF, then ON. ns driver 12-02-2005, 11:38 PM Thank you for the reply. I am only turning it until it gets to the on position. At least now I know that the alarm should sound if the engine doesn't start on the second try.maybe some of my problem is with the ignition switch itself. Who knows? Caribbean ZJ 12-03-2005, 01:03 PM What problems are u having.... Alram come on if battery is weak. Change battery i think this will solve ur problem ns driver 12-03-2005, 03:07 PM nope thats not the case. See my other posting "jeep won't start randomly" this explains whats been going on with the truck. I was looking today, I haven't located the crank sensor as of yet. I did notice the spark plug wires were markedwhich needs to be done to replace crank sensor. would indicate to me that the sensor has been replaced.has a remanufactured ECU on it also must have been replaced. the wiring to the fuel pump has been taken apart (i can tell as the tabs on the wire is broken. seems someone has been having a problem with the truck for some time. dksob81 12-03-2005, 05:00 PM nope thats not the case. Well you won't be able to look and see the CPS on the 5.2L engine, you will have to feel for it (recommend with the engine completely cold) it is on the passengerside on the backside of the engine, right below/behind the cylinder head. Email me, I will give you the instructions and a picture that shows it's exact location. Seems the jeep works fine if you don't let it get to less than a quarter of a tank of fuel. I did also find a fuse missing in the panel which was for the security module. For now everything is working fine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
