I want to replace the cd player that came with my 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The problem is that my car also has a "message center" that is tied to the radio/cd player. The message center displays such info as miles until oil change, doors ajar, window washer fluid low........When these messages are not displayed the the date and time are shown. The time is set by buttons on the radio/cd player. If I replace the radio/cd player will I no longer be able to set the time in the message center? Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

I have the VIC (Vehicle Information Center) in my 94 ZJ Limited as well, try setting the time using the select button, press and hold the select button and the DATE/TIME will start flashing, use the select button to change the date/time and the other button (can't remember the name) to switch between the selections.
