My heater is not working. I have checked the lines where the heater is located and its warm. It just isn't coming out warm in the vents. I don't know where the flapper door is at the core of the heater. It blowers are fine. It has worked on occassion, actually only 2 times this winter. Once I shut the car off to get gas and turned the car on the heater didn't work. I am freeeezing. Please help.

Please do a search in this forum for "air mix actuator". There's several topics that deal with this with pictures, test procedures and replacement options.

I'm having the same issue with a 1997 Bonneville SE. I tried the search that you mentioned "air mix actuator" but came up with nothing. Collant has been flushed, thermostat replaced, top Radiator hose is warm/hot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Just went through same thing,Randmans suggestions very helpful.I changed my heater core ,cleaned evaporator core,2 new thermostats and checked all vaccuum hoses found 1 leak by manifold.I am getting enough heat to feel comfortable in the car ,it is not hot but lot better than it was.
Things to check
Make sure evap core is not blocked by dirt ,leaves ,pine needles
Check all vaccuum hoses ,under hood check all rubber hose connections in vaccuum lines also black box by master cylinder has 2 connections make sure they are plugged in and not leaking, from there the line goes into your car behind your glove box. There should be a black hose connected to a purple hose ,disconnect and make sure there is air coming out, then check Hvac programmer (small different color hoses going to a black box) These little hoses and connectors and little motor are what moves air mix actuator(on top of Hvac programmer a steel rod that connects to air mix door) ,when arm is to the right it is for heat ,arm to the left for air cond.Make sure this moves back and forth when you press temp up and down if not the steel rod is only in place with a little plastic piece it threads into, this may need replaced or possible little motor died or elec connection,If it does move it is possible the little air lines are plugged or came off nipple and not moving actuator full motion.
Other thing is thermostat, you might wanna try 195 degree as engine dont seem to heat up long enough before thermo opens ,my temp gauge never went past 1/4 till I found the right thermostat.
Randman1 is right if you search and read you can find all your answers ,these people are very helpful,I thank all of them.
