the other day my friend got a 2003 Sentra GXE 5-speed and immediately started talking trash. well, we compared numbers (i've got an 03 EX), and I was hesitant to actually go ahead and race him. so one night we get on the interstate, hit 50, and then take off (visual cue). he shot ahead of me, and I was feeling a bit down for about .2 seconds. however, as I hit about 4500 rpm he stopped gaining. at peak HP i was gaining, and I passed him shifting into fourth. So okay. He says we'll race from stop. We find a red light, check for the fuzz, and wait for the green. it turns, and I spin em' through first and second. before long he was a speck in my rear view. turns out he was looking down when the light turned (so he says.)

the moral of the story is pay attention to the light if you're racing. stupid.

The GXEs only have that shitty 1.8 liter motor that puts out absolutely nothing for power. Couple that and a 2700lb car = slooooooow. I have the QR25 motor from the SE-Rs and it's slower than shit, but then I am stuck with a freaking AUTOMATIC...grrr.

I know how you feel. I used to have a lightly modded Mustang V-6 and it had an auto. Would've hauled ass with a manual. :'(
