'93 5.2l won't start randomlyns driver 12-01-2005, 12:42 AM seems we all have different senarios of stalling not starting etc, here's mine. Hope you can help. I just bought a '93 jgc 5.2l. works fine when it works. but three times in a week now I shut it off and leave it for a few minutes when i go to start it it cranks starts sputters then dies. leave it for a couple hours and poof the fix-it elf comes along and alas it starts right up like normal. The second time it did it was yesterday I shut it off for less than 5 minutes and it acted up. I thought I might just unhook the battery and reset the computer. well this is when I found out I have some sort of alarm system. when I hooked the battery back up the lights started flashing. my buddy got on line and found out how to stop that. Now however if I try starting the engine three times in a row without it starting the alarm goes off and the horn blows. If you shut the ignition off everything stops but the horn will still beep every few minutes. trying to disarm it with the key in the door only makes the horn blow. the only way to stop this is to unhook the battery again. I am thinking it has something to do with the alarm system??? The reason I think this is because when it works it works fine. The only thing I wonder about is why it starts up fine after a couple hours. Any help would be appreciated. ns driver 12-16-2005, 07:32 AM Ok, I have figured it out. I think. the jeep only does this when there is less than a quarter tank of fuel. my theory is that the fuel pump is heating and quitting when the fuel level drops below the pump motor itself. since i have run a few tanks of gas through it without letting it get below the quarter markwithout any problems at all. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
