How did Y'all get your Blazers???GirlBear 11-30-2005, 06:39 PM So did you Buy a Blazer after searching and searching for the right one? Or did you just need a new car and stumble acrossed the Blazer. Or did some one pass it on to you? Not sure how to create a poll. If anyone knows how. Maybe you'd wanna put this into poll format. cool? Gabe25 11-30-2005, 07:25 PM I toke my time in finding just the right one at the right price. I now have a 94', 95, 96, 97, Blazer and a 97 S-10 King cab. I'm still looking for a 93. I'll find it. No need to rush. the87hyper 11-30-2005, 07:28 PM Well after one too many speeding tickets i bought a sprint car. Hmm need a tow vehicle and i liked how the blazer looked bought it after searching for the right one, a 96 2dr. Worked great put well over 80k on it in 1 and a half years and sold it. I then found a 97 2dr and after a year or close to it I made a attemt to help and stranded cherokee :lol2: and long story short the truck got fludded. I pushed the insurance company to total it, which they did. Electronics + water :nono: Then after looking for a while bought my 99 Zr2 2dr and I love that damn truck!! :bigthumb: DINO55 11-30-2005, 08:14 PM I got my Red Blazer (80k)from a friend of mine at work. He Bought it new, and took excellent care of it in and out, That's why I snapped it up. And I'm glad I got it...      srbianats 11-30-2005, 08:57 PM Well my wife wanted a Blazer, so we traded in the Astro van for a new 98 Blazer 4x4. Wife had a friend that worked at a chevy dealer. She got the Blazer at dealer cost. At the time, the dealer was more concerened at pushing volume. Having a friend inside that new what dealer cost helped also. He didn't work there long. Anyway, this past July I sold my Firebird and used the money for a down payment on a TrailBlazer EXT 4x4 for the wife and I got her old Blazer. 93LT 11-30-2005, 09:17 PM Had a 94 Blazer as one of our primary vehicles back in 99-00. Loved that Blazer. Wife totalled it out late in 2000 and we moved on. I've slowly worked our "work" vehicles up to; mine being a 1993 Blazer LT, searched for quite awhile; and my wifes 1995 Blazer LS, in which she answered a radio call in add and when we went to look at it, it was near mint and at a better price than I bought my 93 for! I'm a sucker for a good buy on a GM product. muzzy1maniac 11-30-2005, 09:58 PM My S10 p/u was finally giving out with 160k on it and my friend was selling her blazer. It was a good price and very well taken care of and a big upgrade from my stripped pick-up. DaveLance 11-30-2005, 10:04 PM I just went online one day and checked the used car section of a Chevy dealership that was nearby. I went there after work, test drove the Blazer and put money down. I wasn't looking for a new car, just happened to find one. XPC2004 11-30-2005, 10:41 PM I opened a cracker jack box, and it was inside. PBking82 11-30-2005, 11:10 PM Well I was looking for something that was decent looking and was primarily looking at s-10's because i like the hauling capacity of a truck. After finding nothing suitable around my area and talking to dealers in the surrounding area, I hit up eBay. I found my 02 xtreme and feel in love with it. Got a really good deal on it and got it shipped from jacksonville to central NY for under a grand. Peace- JC327 12-01-2005, 01:08 AM I went down to the fork in the road and made me a deal with the witchy woman. She said I'd learn them blues, and that I could have a Blazer. Worked out pretty good so far. OverBoardProject 12-01-2005, 02:42 AM got it froma dead beat former boss that owes me 5 figures. I might own some heavy equiptment soon too. GirlBear 12-01-2005, 03:37 AM Well I was looking for something that was decent looking and was primarily looking at s-10's because i like the hauling capacity of a truck. Got a really good deal on it and got it shipped from jacksonville to central NY for under a grand. Peace- Central NY? Cool I lived in Liverpool, Syracuse and Mattydale I'm kind of a nomad. I had some tickets went to jail for a few days lost my license had to sell my Eclipse and 95 Stang to pay for Fines. Spent a few years sans license. When I was able to get my license back I needed a car. My cousins husbands friend gave him the Blazer and he said he'd sell it to me . I wasn't lookin in that direction more like a mazda or toyota. But I used to have an S-10 pickup I loved. so I Bought the blazer. She has her good and bad days. But I must say its the best car/truck i have ever had. I love my Red 96 Blazer. Neo851 12-01-2005, 11:46 AM Do Jimmy's qualify for this thread? My parents had a 1985 Jimmy when I was born (1986) and it was with me all through my childhood. I loved the truck, my dad hated it - lots and lots of problems. In 1996 we traded it in for a 1991 Dakota, which just wasn't the same. I missed my poo-brown Jimmy lol. So after I got my license, I saved up and bought myself a 1990 Jimmy off a co-worker's cousin for $800.. 366,000kms on the body and possibly the same on the engine though it was supposedly changed.. I'm driving it until theres nothing left, and even then I'm keeping it so that one day when I'm rich and bored I can rebuild it lol. the crappy part is that I can't drive the dang thing now cause I can't afford the insurance while I'm in school :@ I'm stuck driving a 2001 Corolla which I absolutely HATE Officer Redneck 12-01-2005, 12:02 PM I had a '92 Ford explorer that was just about to die on me, so I called in a favor from a car dealer I worked for in the past. I told him I was looking for a Jeep or a Montero Sport and he called me a day later and said I got something you need to see. Lo and behold it was the '97 Blazer LT. When I first drove it, it was perfect. It made no noises that it shouldn't make and it was perfect on the inside and out. Fast forward 6 months and I would like to drive this Blazer straight up his ass. I always thought I got a good deal for $4900.00. Boy was I wrong. LS19962DRBLAZER4X4 12-01-2005, 03:45 PM It was last week of December 1995 after driving the other two vehicles I made a decision to buy the1996 Chevy Blazer LS 2Dr. 4x4 Off Road Vehicle. If I had to do it again I wouldn't have purchased it. General Motors... digs it own grave... I was one of 33000 people who sued GM and Won a settlement. I try to keep my truck in shape and out of the elements. It looks brand new but the problems I had with it when I leased it is something I will never do again. General Motors (Chevy) always made excuses for the way is was made. I never heard of a HUB going after 18000 miles but I was told it was common with the Chevy Blazer. All my major problems where handled by the 36000 warranty. Thank God.. but I still had more problems after it expired. I just off roaded once and the truck almost came apart on me. I thought it was going to break apart. ( This was going up Killington Vermont Hills )... I was one of the 40% who got bad vehicles by GM . I owned Oldsmobiles all my life from 1970's. A 1976 2Dr. Cutlass Salon A 1983 2 Dr. Oldsmobile Tornado Brome These two cars had over 200000 miles on them with out any major problems. I purchased them brand new. Maybe I was born too late to have faith in General Motors Inc... mountie1982 12-01-2005, 03:56 PM I got mine when my bro wanted to show me a Yukon at a dealership. when we were on our way there I was telling him how I wanted a new truck too. At the dealership I said i kinda liked the 95 up 2 door blazers. I said if I could find a black on grey Id take it. As i said that he started laughing as we almost walked right into one. Well a few hours later I was driving it home. Talk about an impulse buy eh? To top it off he didnt buy the Yukon. ErikN 12-01-2005, 05:26 PM in 1994, fresh out of college, I needed to buy a 4wd vehicle for my new job in the oilfields. The newly styled 95's were just out, so they were selling off the 94's for cheap, so I picked one up. Now, after a lot of ups and downs, and over 200,000 miles later, she is still my baby. Its a love-hate relationship, there are good days and bad, but all-in-all, I would have to say it has been a good vehicle. Would I buy another? Unlikely. gman2153 12-01-2005, 06:20 PM I used Cars.com to locate my last two purchases.. 2002 Blazer - purchased from a dealer in Allentown Pa in 2002, was 6 months old with 12,000 miles on it...Saved $7,000 from sticker price 2002 Chevy S10 Ext Cab - purchased from a dealer in Binghamton,NY. last year.. 10,000 miles on it with a custom cap and wheels. Stole it for $9,000.. I never buy NEW, both vehicles had remaining warranties and I saved a bundle of $$$.. Cars.com is a great resource to use.... p.s. - Girlbear - I like that southern slang you used. It's Sexy.. Bless your Heart Darlin... 2000blazerls 12-01-2005, 07:17 PM Well I had a 91 Camaro RS (305 V8). One day while racing back roads (speeds up to 135mph) I was slowing down to about 30 miles an hour after racing a newer Firebird and a piece of my front suspension just fell out, causing my right front tire to fall over and drag me into a ditch. Luckily I was only doing 30ish so no one was hurt but not 1 min earlier I was in the left lane of a 2 lane road with the firebird to my right, had it happened when we were at 100mph+ I would have killed myself and probably him. So That scared me enough to dump the car and get a 4cyl 97 s-10. I liked the truck but it was too small so after a year I traded that in for a my current 2000 Blazer. At the time I was not sure what I was looking for. I was looking in the full size Chevy truck market, a Blazer had never crossed my mind. Well A coworker had one and I liked it, researched for a month or so and found one at a local used car lot with only 30,000 miles on it. I scooped it up for about $10,000. This was over 2 years ago and at the time the blue book was showing $13,000 as the value so I got a good deal. More room, more power, but still slow enough to not kill anyone. I do mess round with it but I do not think I have ever had it over 90mph and the few times I have raced it, I ususally do it in empty parking lots with plenty of space between the the two of us. ZL1power69 12-01-2005, 07:47 PM After I sold my 87 Camaro IROC-Z, I needed something more practical, I though about an SUV. A friend of mine said his dad had a 95 jimmy for sale and I wound up buying it about a week later. To be honest I wish I had looked around more. They sort of unloaded it on me. billibong 12-02-2005, 08:29 AM I was with my kids one weekend, and decided I needed to replace the 96 Hyundai that had just been totaled when someone rearended me. I was driving by a dealership that had my blazer parked at the curb, I talked them down $5000 from the sticker price, got $1350 for my totaled Hyundai and drove home in my 2 year old blazer with about 30,000 miles on it that night. BlazerBoyLT98 12-02-2005, 11:14 AM I bought my 98LT used at a Ford dealer. They wanted it off of there lot cause is was a Chevy so I got a great deal. It will be 3 years this April I have owned it and when I bought it, it had just under 60K miles on her, now she has 126K miles. Lots of driving ha? I have never once gotten stuck nor have I ever had to use 4 wheel low to get unstuck. Spyderdan 12-03-2005, 12:51 AM I Just Bought My 03 Blazer 2 dr 4x4 Vortec a month ago. i have a dealership right next to work so i figured i would just test drive some vehicle for something to do then i say her and couldnt take my eyes off her. so long story short i traded my mint 94 grand prix special edition and got the vehicle i have wanted for a long time. would rather have a zr2 but i cant complain for the price i paid... 95ride 12-14-2005, 09:58 PM got mine from a private seller for $650 minor front end damage only cleanshavenrsx 12-15-2005, 08:27 AM well my dad bought a 97 lt and i learned on that and i loved it... at the begining of the winter i thought to my self oh crap my rsx is a is a plow so i bought it on ebay for 2300 delivered to my house...from md to pa.... black blazer lt rlith 12-15-2005, 08:30 AM I purchased my truck in December of 03 because an old man hit and totaled my 92 Blazer,www.pghconsulting.net/blazer . I knew that it had a bad CPI unit when I bought it, fortunatly I had an extra one sitting on the shelf. Easy fix right? Wrong! I figured I would change the cap and rotor while I had the upper plenum off. Little did I know that I had dropped one of the cap screws down the #5 cylinder! So I go to start it, and it sounds like a bad machine gun! Sigh. So I obtained a new engine, made sure it was good, and dropped it in with the help of Grappler and our friend Doug. All is well, right? Wrong!!!! So now it's June of 04, Grappler finds a truck (91 Camina El) and since I have a hitch we drive to Ohio and pick it up. That little stress on that engine for 400 miles pretty much trashed my bearings. Fortunatly the place I got my engine from warrantied it out. Got a new one with only 40k on it. I was once again happy. After confirming everything was ok with the engine we threw it in. As an added bonus we also threw in a new tranny. (also only had 40k on it). So far it's been good, I beat the hell out of the motor daily and it chirps in second @ 3500 rpm. Life is good... mike1224 12-15-2005, 09:25 AM Well is an s-10 p/u but I got it a memorial day '03, a few months after my car hit a light pole. here goes the story: I was just getting off work, it was about 1:00am, in the winter, so its icy, knowing this, I try taking the main Avenue home, but "Lil Red", 1991 Hyundai Excel 98,000miles couldn't make it up the hill, because my turn out is half way up it, so I reverse it, get back onto the side street, flip a uwww-ey. I go the where the road "Y"'s take the left, hit a patch of ice and with cranked1/4 turn, stll going straight...... into a damn light pole. There wasn't too much damage to Lil Red but with it being 11yrs old, Tranny fluid blacker than asphalt, (this was previously my parents car, original owners), smelling like cigarettles. I convinced them I need something reliable. Thats when I got "Blu Ballz" 2000 s-10 p/u. Its a Dark blue s-10 with bule TruckNutz on the back.. (Pics in avatar) 50,280 when I bought Blu, now theres about 62,800 Hunter1 12-20-2005, 10:33 PM Funny story. Got mine from a friend for free who had wrecked it a little on the front end. New fender, hood grill and lights does the trick. For some reason or another his insurance company decided to drop collision insurance (details are still sketchy at best). I originally wanted it for parts for my 96 blazer but after I saw it I just decided to keep it since it was newer and nicer than mine. So now I have a 96 2dr blazer forsale if anyone is interested. Hunter dirtnap300 12-21-2005, 05:43 AM bought mine when i found out that my wife was pregnant and we were due in the middle of winter. As my luck usually runs on the crappy side i figured that i better have a comfy 4x4 to take my wife to the hospital on the blessed day. I was spot on and we were in the middle of a horrible ice and snow storm on the day Leighanne arrived but i just clicked it into 4wd and off we went to the hospital... no worries! I have put on 24k in the 3 years i have owned it and even though she is trying to give me a full head of grey hair, i love this dam truk,, along with my 96 extended cap 4x4 K1500 and my 92 Wrangler. dam these four wheel drives.... BlazayBlazerious 12-21-2005, 12:16 PM Much like Muzzy and GB, I had a S-10 pickup which I loved. 88' 4x4 longbed, had the 2.8L, what a pig! It started gettin' scary at around 170,000 so I got my 1st 98 LT 4dr 4x4 in 2002. A lot happened to the S-series between '88 and '98, not to mention going from the 2.8 to the 4.3, but it still felt like a truck. I fell in love with it immediately and it was immaculate inside and out. A year later a bad person plowed into me and totalled it. (pics in my gallery...yeah, I know you've seen 'em) So I looked around until I found one almost identical...even the same color. I plan on driving it until it turns to dust. By that time I'll just go out and get an '02 or '03. tuellz 02-28-2006, 04:02 AM [quote=GirlBear]So did you Buy a Blazer after searching and searching for the right one? Or did you just need a new car and stumble acrossed the Blazer. Stumbled. May 6, 2005 (eve b4 my birthday) I was rear ended in my nearly cherry 93 Mustang by a Ford F-150 pu. Totaled the Mustang, Totaled the F-150 and broke my back. 9 months after the accident, 5 months after the surgery to restore my spine (4 little-finger sized titamium bolts and 2 titanium plates to lock the broken vertebrae together) I'm looking for a new ride. After struggling in and out of about 25 cars (wearing a huge back brace to help me stay together) I can't find anything acceptable. Suddenly, there is the PERFECT date. Everything that I am looking for (well, except fuel economy) and I can just slide in and out without a step up or a stoop down. She's beautiful. She's Strong. She's MINE. And that's why I am here on this board. Phillip nickledimed 02-28-2006, 07:30 AM Its a typical storey. When I get the feeling I need to trade my car off I start looking. I dont buy a car strickly on how it looks or even drives. Its a feeling I get in my gut. I just had a realy good feeling about this blazer and I went with it. Ive never been let down shopping for a vehicle this way. its been a great truck!!!!! I know that you can get lemons from any manufacture, Ive just never had any trouble with a GM product. Ive owned 1 Cadilac, 2 luminas, 1 Monte carlo, and now my Blazer. I have also owned 1 toyota celica "great car" & 1 toyota PU "also great truck" I have worked on all of these and I think the chevys are the easyest. oops I for got....befor I bought the blazer I had a jeep charokee....great 4x4 also.. BlazinMlew 02-28-2006, 09:00 AM I needed and wanted a 4WD and my mom had a 03 (I think) ZR2. I liked how it wasnt to big but yet big enough. So that led me to my 2000 LT. I wish I would have waited and got the ZR2 but I am happy enough with this one. Now I want an Xtreme though. muddyjimmy 02-28-2006, 09:37 AM So did you Buy a Blazer after searching and searching for the right one? Or did you just need a new car and stumble acrossed the Blazer. Or did some one pass it on to you? Not sure how to create a poll. If anyone knows how. Maybe you'd wanna put this into poll format. cool? Had a Sieria and decided I want a jimmy so I went to the delership and startd looking and they had a white 4 door 4x4 jimmy SLT that an old couple had special order and then did not pick up and they gave me a good deal on it so I bought it on the spot. Of course they special ordered it with out a CD player or leather interior. nickledimed 02-28-2006, 10:26 AM Good to see someone else from arkansas in here. Ultrashock 02-28-2006, 11:55 AM I got mine after passing by it at a repair shop....... I wanted a dodge dakota or an explorer but ended up getting the blazer because it was in great condition. Even though it was 4 years older than the others i couldnt pass it up for its price........ especially since the previous owner replaced the engine, and rebuilt the tranny and rearend. SniperX13 02-28-2006, 07:00 PM I bought my 1991 s-10 blazer tahoe 4x4 from a friend of mine. It was his back up vehicle for being a volunteer firefighter. The tranny went on my 98 taurus and he knew I needed a vehicle quick, so he cut me a deal and sold me his blazer for 1700. Rmbodie 03-01-2006, 03:29 AM I bought mine out of the newspaper for $900 bucks . I had dreams of building it into an all terain vehicle go anywhere like a street legal ATV , and I did . Rob BlazerLT 03-01-2006, 04:29 AM Bought mine off of my parents when they went to a full size ram pickup. I knew its history and that is money in the bank in my mind. rental blazer 03-01-2006, 07:35 PM i had a 85 that was pretty dependable for the most part and was geting to the ponit of needing WAY too much repair done to it so i started looking for a 92-94 ish and found a 95 at a good price with low miles under book vaule so i grabed it and its been good too so far. 534BC 03-02-2006, 01:19 PM I got mine using lots of research and figuring. I research the heck out of them, decide what options I want (usually loaded) figure out what its worth and then start looking for exactly the vehicle I want. I do it almost as if I am ordering a new one. I am very patient and get exactly what I want, but sometimes give the "order" to a freind. I am not sure how he does it, but he can get exactly what I want. Bolognabob 03-18-2006, 03:13 AM Well, I borrowed my pop's 87 S10 blazer, on the ride back home, i broke the crank on it............... he said here, its yours........ that's how i got mine...... jackass#1 03-18-2006, 09:22 AM a met a girl with a 91 blazer and married her(no not just for the blazer). the marrage had alot of ups and downs atfirst, but the truck ran smooth all the way through. we are still married and have 6 kids. but now ive got the truck and shes got a van. the truck is still the best vehicle ive ever had, and was worth all of that to get it. joeuser742 03-24-2006, 03:55 PM Well, I was talking to my wife about getting a bigger car (easier with a newborn), but not really looking. Turns out my friends dad, who passed away, had a Blazer. He got a quote and was going to sell it to Carmax. I ran into him before he brought it in and asked him about it, he told me that he would sell it to me for what Carmax offered him. Well, I couldn't pass it up. Since then, I put many new parts and hours into the truck, but yet don't regret getting it. DetroitMuscle 03-25-2006, 04:49 AM Always wanted a 1st gen 2 door 4x4, found the right one at a very good price. Sold this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v104/racindaelky78/car/snowelky.jpg For this. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v104/racindaelky78/car/DCAM0549.jpg Its great, so far everything has been very cheap to repair or upgrade, gotta love mass production and high demand. 143k and everything works and has very minimal rust, doesnt drip a drop of anything, no pings, knocks or burning of fluids. I am very pleased with this vehicle. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
