94 jgc stallindawn0606 11-30-2005, 10:55 AM I have a 94 jgc that seems to be running fine and all of a sudden it will stall. When this happens it won't start back up right away. It just cranks but won't catch, like it's not getting fuel. If I let it sit a few minutes it will start. But lately it's been doing this while I'm on the highway. I'll lose all power for a second then it will jump back up. It hasn't actually stalled like that yet, but I'm afraid it will. Can anyone help me? dksob81 11-30-2005, 04:22 PM deffinate sounds of a bad CPS. They tend to stall at highway speed and then restart all by it's self. dawn0606 12-01-2005, 01:09 PM Hope I don't sound like a dummy, but what is a cps? and is it hard to fix? JeepForever 12-01-2005, 02:09 PM CPS is "Crankshaft Position Sensor". It's a sensor bolted to the bell housing on the transmission on the top right side behind the engine (as you look at the engine from in front of the vehicle). I had the same problem with my '94 Jeep GC (as did several people on this forum), and the CPS seems to be a first step. The part is about $60 (depending on where you get it), and with a bit of effort it's fairly easy to replace. You'll learn more if you search for postings on "CPS" or "Crankshaft Position Sensor". Let us know if you want more info. dawn0606 12-01-2005, 03:15 PM did a little research, can't believe how many people have this problem. Gonna have automotively challenged hubby try it. Wish him luck! Thanks for the info dksob81 12-01-2005, 06:09 PM well if you need the instructions email me I will send you the instruction sheet for replacing it.
