I have a: 1993 S-10 4x4 4.3L with 163,000 mi
that squeaks in the front end while in park, while idleing, and while driving.
Not all the time, but about 80% of the time and it's driving me nuts.
I do know that it is NOT the alternator, tensioner, water pump, or belt,
but the noise is coming from somewhere near them.
I know this because I've had to replace all of these separately as they
have gone bad. After I got done fixing each of these, I was hoping that
the squeak would be gone... but the sqeak remains.
With the last project, the water pump, I started it without the belt on
and let it run for a few seconds... still the squeak remains even without the belt!
My last idea is that it is coming from the pully that drives the belt, but I
didn't want to try to take that off without being sure how to fix it since
it goes into the motor/transmission?
I have repeatedly tried spraying WD-40 on this remaining pully, which
quiets it a little for a few seconds... but the squeak remains.
Any advice would be helpful. Keep in mind I don't really know jack,
but I'm pretty good at taking things apart, finding what's broken, and
putting the new parts on.

I would try spraying a little lubricant on the suspect pully and see if the squeek goes away. Then you will know thw offwnding part.

If the squeak is still there with the belt off, Then you should be looking for a possible vibration squeak. It can't be the pully's. No belt to turn them. Try taking a look at your upper and lower control arm bushings. That year has been know to squeak. Good luck!!!!

Just make sure you don't get the lubricant near the belt itself.

Also, grease your front and and check your motor mounts.
