ECM codesruberpoliceman 11-29-2005, 04:02 PM Could someone post a link to a site that explains the codes-Not just what the codes mean but what flashes are for each code- Or just tell me what flashes go for each code..Thanks PeteA216 11-29-2005, 04:35 PM I dont know of any sites, but each set of flashes represents a digit. Example: while the ECM is in diagnostic mode, when the check engine light flashes 4 times, pauses, and flashes 3 times, that means a code 43. The ECM will flash each code stored in its memory 3 times each. ruberpoliceman 11-29-2005, 04:55 PM Ok Thanks. There was a site becuase i got it from one of u guys up here before and just havent been able to find it again and havent had much time to look. Thanks for the information though. ruberpoliceman 11-29-2005, 05:14 PM ok i have code 24 wich is vehicle speed sensor. would anybody know were this is or what exactly this means. silicon212 11-29-2005, 05:38 PM What year is your car? Cars with mechanical speedometers have the VSS mounted on the backside of the speedometer itself - you will have to pull the dash apart to get to it - newer cars with digital speedometers typically mount the VSS in or on the transmission. A quick Q for you - Does your speedometer work? If not, this is your VSS error. ruberpoliceman 11-29-2005, 06:26 PM It's an 86 caprice 305 5.0 and yes mechanical, i realy dont know if the speedo works i mean i havent driven it anywere since ive had it, no i take that back, i have driven it but it was night and at the time the fuse for the dash lights was blown (i didnt know it before i drove) so i couldnt see the speedo. I have driven it in the yard and it did register like 5mph but that was like way before i changed the computer and a ton of other stuff in it. Anyways as far as i can tell yes it works, so what else would be the problem with the VSS? Thanks. CD Smalley 11-29-2005, 09:18 PM Try a search in this forum.
