If done properly, is it like a new engine and can go another 200K? How much $ would it cost to have done (at a decent local shop... NOT the dealer) -4.0L 6 cyl- i have over 300,000 on my 4.0. i'd be interested in a rebuild if the price is right. how many you have?....200,000 or so? mx52nv 11-30-2005, 02:42 AM what does an engine rebuild usually mean???? but to answer, yes it could go another 200k. might be more cost-efficient to go with a low-mileage used one though. Stoeger 11-30-2005, 09:39 AM Yah, I have 205K and it's knocking and leaking oil, was wondering if a rebuild would take care of everything. Saw a rebuild kit for ~$300. I've never torn an engine apart, so I'd probably pay for it to be done. What is labor for that.. another $600? $1200? A lower mileage used one is another good option, loooks like those are around $800 including delivery on ebay, but then again, labor charge... I called 1 place they threw out $2500 for everything to remove and install in a rebuilt one... but that seemed VERY HIGH to me... ?? mx52nv 11-30-2005, 07:36 PM where are you located at?? Stoeger 11-30-2005, 07:58 PM Just North of Detroit, MI mx52nv 11-30-2005, 08:06 PM hey, give these guys a call tomorrow http://www.jeepsunlimited.net/pages/1/index.htm I got an engine from them a few years back. Stoeger 12-02-2005, 11:17 AM I just changed the oil, and put in Bar's Leak Stop Leak... Seems to have slowed the leaking, but still a lot of vibrations at idle. Can I can put in the Lucas while the Bar's Leak's is still in there also? Flaviano 12-02-2005, 09:22 PM I just changed the oil, and put in Bar's Leak Stop Leak...
