I have a 1990 4wd v6, the crankshaft pulley went out, anybody know of any tricks/tips on how to remove/replace. Anything would be greatly appreciated!

This is a general procedure and not necessarily the best one for your exact truck (I don't have a 3.0 L engine in front of me). Also, I am assuming you are talking about the accessory belt pulley and not the timing belt pulley.

You may have to remove the radiator shroud. Don't if you don't have to.

Loosen up the accessories by loosening the pivot bolts and the adjustment bolts. Remove all the accessory belts that run through the crankshaft pulley. Check them for cracks and replace them if they are questionable (bring them to the store and match their length).

Crawl under the truck and remove anything easy that is in your way (skid plate, etc.). Work around suspension components and the drive shaft. They are not worth the time to remove unless they are a unsolvable barrier. It is better to buy a universal joint for your socket set than remove these major components. Again, remove the fan shroud if it is really in your way.

Undo the bolts holding the pulley to the damper. Install the pulley reversing everything that you did along the way.

Replace the belts and tension them so that they give around 1/4 inch when pressed hard in the center of the longest span between pulleys.

You're welcome.

Be careful when you pry on an accessory to put tension on the belt. Don't damage the accessory and don't damage whatever you are using to pry against.

just for reference, this tool will also work fine for removing crankshaft pulley.
