hello
I have just recieved a 1995 thunderbird and would like to more about it.
I have searched the web but im having trouble finding performance parts for this car. I use to be in the JDM crap :nono: but changed my mine after felt this thing called torque (hondas never heard of this word)
I was going to sell the thunderbird so I can afford a turbo for my rex at 1st but i am reconsidering because the T-bird felt really good down low but like most things can be improved and I also have many offers on my CRX. I want a lil more performance out of either car I own. I know what I have to do for the CRX but don't know where to start on the T-Bird this is my 1st ever v8 american car I owned and I like it
but I want to know

1- can the 4.6 handle my goal of 13 second 1/4 while still being streetable
2- can a 5.0 from a mustang drop in with little or no modification I.E no motor mount relocating or complex fabricating, or custom welding.
3- is there a 5spd that can bolt up to the engine that can handle my goals for 13 seconds I estimate I would need at least 300-350hp to run in 13
4- what are good websites to learn more about the this ford and
moddifications.

by the way my T-bird has a factory xenox lip kit
v8 4.6 with 130,000 miles
a nice window tint
16 in chrome wheels
new black paint
boring automatic
all stock no mods

my crx hf has
1.6 SOHC ZC estimated 50,000 miles
gutted interior
headers/intake/exhaust
twin plate clutch
lighten flywheel
eibach lowering springs
fuel pump and injectors (walbro 255 and 440cc not installed)
16inch lightweight rims falken tires
it is a big improvement over stock (but thats not saying much)

I dont see to many Modded T-birds and many say a T-bird isn't a "race car" but IMO neither is a honda but people still do it anyways :screwy:
its all about preference please any feed back will help before I make a mistake and sell the wrong car
only reason why I want the crx is because it is my first ever finished project car (although a project car is never "really" finished) and a turbo would make it a real screamer but what sucks is front wheel drive
oh well live and learn :banghead:

1: Generaly, there arent many N/A 4.6L Thunderbird's in the 13's. Most are running with the AED Blower kit. Some of the N/A Guys are running with a full PI Swap (02+ Explorer Aluminum Bloack PI engine) with various bolt ons. The 4.6 In our cars now are the early 4.6's.. which arent much of a performance engine compared to todays standards.

2: I dont see why not. They're both based on the same platform

3:A manual swap? It's been done, but requires some fabrication. I think most V8 Manual swaps are done using the M5R2. (Or are they using the T5?) It requires special bell housings etc. and a new center console.

4: http://www.tccoa.com

PS, if you're looking to go the N/A route, but dont want to swap engine, do the PI HCI swap. Most of these parts can be had off most 99+ Fords with the 4.6.
