98 Ultra Gas Gauge

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I'm having. My 98 Ultra is (almost weekly) having its gas gauge stuck under the post under the "Full" portion of the gauge. I know this is a fairly common problem with PAs and I can take the dash off and reset it myself. I don't have a problem doing this once in awhile; however, lately this is happening all the time! It seems to happen after I fill the tank and then start the car. Has anyone else out there seen this sort of thing? Is it a battery issue? I replaced the battery about 4 months ago but I was told it was the right battery for my vehicle. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mine did this also. 97 PAU got to doing it whenever we started the car. It told me I was an unknown driver also! I cleaned the battery terminals and tightened everyhing back up. It has not missed a beat since then. Been about 2 months now.

My regular 98 PA does it too. I drilled a very small hole and use a paper clip to move it back. Although it has stopped happening since I changed battery, mine was weak.

I like the previous poster's method of drilling a small hole big enough for a paperclip and using that with a hook to life the gauge back where it belongs!

I drilled the hole in mine also. I do not have to hook mine. I just put it back the other way.

I used a magnet. worked great no drilling.
