oil leaking on accessory drive beltrobert lombardi 11-24-2005, 01:16 PM I've got a 1996 Gran Am with a 3.1 V6 that is leaking oil on the accessory drive belt on the front accessory end of the engine. I removed the power steering pump thinking that it was comming from it. What a pain that was. It's thin oil and looks like it's power steering oil that is dripping after being flung all over that area by the accessory belt. I saw dripping that looked like it was under the power steering pump while the engine was running. The pump looks like it wasn't leaking now that I have it out and can see it well. It's definately not from the power input shaft seal. Anyone heard of the reservoir leaking? Got any ideas of any other thing that could be. I'm stumped. Bob xeroinfinity 11-24-2005, 11:20 PM if its plastic it could be cracked where the seam is on the edges. Also if its overfull it will run/drip onto the belt. robert lombardi 11-25-2005, 09:24 AM if its plastic it could be cracked where the seam is on the edges. I noticed that the reservoir just plugs into the top of the pump with an O ring to seal it. Metal clips hold the reservoir down on the pump. I wonder if this was leaking. It doesn't seem to plug in nearly as tight as the new one does. I plan on putting it all back together as soon as I get one last item. I will report back. . . . Thanks again. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
