need some adviseslavejay 11-24-2005, 12:16 AM does anybody know of a specific company that makes catback dual exhaust for an 85 caprice? if not, what is my best bet of doing this? my friend works at midas, and i was just gonna get 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers and he was gonna cut/bend stainless pipe for me. he asked his boss and he said that the shop couldnt do it because regulations said you cant put dual exhaust on a car that comes stock with regular exhaust. i dont know if its a company policy or what. what would be my best bet for a good sounding muffler , i was thinking the flowmaster 40 series but if anybody else has any suggestions, im open. sorry about so many questions, but theres more. should i just get regular universal cats or is there an aftermarket cat that would make a difference? (i dont even really know what cats do besides make me fail inspection for emissions lol) which is my last question, would i be able to pass inspection with dual exhaust on my caprice? thank you, i hope some of you can answer my questions. silicon212 11-24-2005, 03:22 AM Federal law states that if a car wasn't available from the factory with dual cats, you cannot make it dual cats UNLESS a later model year version of the same car was available with dual cats. In your case, the 94-96 Caprice was available with factory dual cats, and if you use the entire system from such a car (along with tranny x-member) you should be fine. FYI, the entire exhaust system from a 94-96 will fit your 85. As far as cat-back, it is legal to add a Y-pipe to make duals, from the single cat on back. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
