Another GP runs 9.6@146 to take the 3800FWD record - VIDEOjeffs_GTP_sleeper 11-22-2005, 06:55 PM The competition heated up two days ago when the rival company to ZZPerformance(zzperformance.com) brought their drag car to the track. After three years of trial/error with their car(prev. best of 10.1) they achieved a 9.6@146. This is the new record now held by INTENSE(intense-racing.com) which should drop to the low 9nines and likely the 8s next race season. http://www.intense-racing.com/pics/timeslips/TurboCar_Timeslip_964_medium.jpg Here is the vid: http://www.INTENSE-Racing.com/movies/TurboCar_964.wmv This car just has one GIGANTIC turbo on it.(T76) lamehonda 11-22-2005, 07:16 PM That's really fast. Long way from 8's though. Going to need to trap a little higher. jeffs_GTP_sleeper 11-22-2005, 07:23 PM That's really fast. Long way from 8's though. Going to need to trap a little higher. Yeah I dont think it will be this car. I think the twin turbo is going to get there first, since they haven't began turning up the boost(9.7@145). But yeah 8s are a long way off for both setups. bad360rt 11-22-2005, 11:56 PM Hey Jeff, I saw the Intense car run on Sat, that thing was sick! Do you know what he broke on the run after that 9.64? I saw him run a 10.0, then the 9.64, then on the third run, he launched, went BANG! then crunch, crunch, crunch as it rolled to a stop. Atco's boards are all messed up tho, I thought it was a 9.84 LOL Underground_Killah 11-23-2005, 02:36 AM i wouldn't ever complain with 9's jeffs_GTP_sleeper 11-23-2005, 04:00 AM He said it was the input shaft again. This is their current dilemna: We're extremely pleased with how the current combination launches, and we've now produced 1.50 to 1.54 60' times at all four tracks we visited in the last few weeks (Norwalk, National Trails, US 41 and Atco). That's the good news. The bad news is that every time we 'turn up the wick' and go for that elusive 1.4x 60' time, we break something. In fact, we've now broken three input shafts in our last nine quarter mile passes. We're working with the tranny gurus at G.M. Racing, and we hope to have a solution to this issue in the near future. Due to the repeated breakages, we've missed a lot of good opportunities by either being tentative at the starting line and babying the launches too much, or getting too aggressive and snapping the input shaft. Neither approach gets the job done so we decided to regroup. Since we'd made so many trouble-free passes with low 1.5x 60' times, we decided to get in a baseline run, turn it up just enough to hit the 1.50 - 1.51 60' 'sweet spot' and then add boost until we're able to get the record. So, here's what we did: They are using a GM racing input shaft rated over the car's hp but are still breaking them. Not sure why. Hope they can get it figured out, I'd love to see it run with the wick turned all the way up :iceslolan turtlecrxsi 11-23-2005, 10:14 AM Damn. 3.073 reaction time. Were those slicks, drag radials, street tires? With slicks and a better reaction time, I'm sure the results would be even better. King Of Crunk 11-23-2005, 10:43 AM nice! jeffs_GTP_sleeper 11-23-2005, 03:52 PM Reaction time does not effect the ET. This was a test N tune not a drag race. If you watch the vid it takes nearly 3seconds to get the turbo spooled to the right amount they use to launch. Its not like it would have ran a 6.6 with a good reaction time, lol. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
