Okay where should I start My neon has started to backfire, it backfires usually and low speeds below 40 it also cuts off sometimes when I am in traffic and not giving it any gas but not often (its automatic). It also is starting to over head...only in traffic, once im on the highway its fine but if I sit in traffic too long it heats up. It goes down if I turn on the heat so im not sure waht that problem could be. I just changed the spark plugs ( autolite) so I dont think that could be it. The odometer works on and off so there is no way of telling how many miles it really has on it. It reads 87,000 But im sure it is atleast 100,000. The timing belt and water pump have not been changed...could they be the problem? ANyone has a few DIY pages? The car is worth $600 and it will proly cost $600 to have all that done @ the mechanic so i guess DIY is my only option. It also seems to be burning oil....not too much but enough that i have to add a quart every month
