Equipment Install

I have a 97 Breeze and just bought new stereo equipment for it. I have a Pioneer deck that supports the Pioneer iPod adapter. I had all the other equipment installed, but didn't get the iPod adapter because it was another $160. I can get it on eBay for about $80 and want to try to install it myself. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get access to the battery and back of the stereo in the Breeze? I have worked with electronics a lot, but never in cars.

Thanks

well the stereo is easy enough to remove. pop off the bezel from around the stereo/climate controls with a screw driver and a rag around the blade as to not scratch anything. its just clipped in there so it should come off without much effort. then, there are two screws holding the radio in, 3/8 of an inch. remove those. since the stereo in the car is 2 din, and most aftermarket head units are 1 din, you'll have to make or buy a braket for the Pioneer deck.

Instead of routing a wire all the way to the battery or under the hood and pick up radio interference (battery is in the drivers front wheel well), i'd take +12v from the accesory line in your radio harness (red wire i think on the pioneer, could be the yellow one, check the install manual). You could use the wire straight from your battery, but your ipod adapter would always be on. if you use the accesory line, the ipod adapter will only be on when the radio is on.

the hookup of the ipod adapter should be just pluging it inot the deck once your have it powered and grounded.

Dont know if it hooks up in the front or the back of the head unit, but if its the back, i'd drill a hole in my glove box and stick my ipod in there with the wires routed behind the dash to minimize their apperance.

If you need anything else drop me a line.
