Tranmission helpkm23honda 11-16-2005, 05:31 AM I just bought a 97 GSX. When pressing in the clutch it feels soft like there is no pressure, i know it doesn't drop it just feels soft. Another thing, that i really find werid is that when in 4th adn 5th gear i try to acclerate in boost only the RPMS goes up and there is no pull to notice that the car is in boost. I know that it is because when letting off the gas pedal i hear the BOV. Oh some times when parked its hard to put into 1st gear. I have been thinking of buying a new clutch ACT 2600 Is this a good clutch, if not give me some ideas. thanks KYLE I hope this is making sense. l_eclipse_l 11-16-2005, 09:22 AM Did you check the clutch to make sure that it's not all torn up and in decent condition? It also sounds like you have a boost leak. Stock clutch would be sufficient. km23honda 11-16-2005, 10:15 AM Well i don't know a lot about turbo cars or eclipse in general but doesn't sound like it has a boost leak but i really think the clutch is bad. It would take a lot of work to look at the clutch im thinking of call a transmission shop and find out what they think and just go ahead and replace clutch with 2600. 97GSTspyder 11-16-2005, 06:08 PM no, before you go calling anyone, nail the basics first...go bleed your clutch. i guarentee this will improve it. if that doesn't help, make sure you're not losing any hydraulic fluid from either the master or slave cylinders. also keep in mind, the stock clutches on these cars are pretty soft, so they are super easy to press. if none of that helps (which it should), then consider a new clutch assembly (clutch disc, pressure plate, t/o bearing, and get the flywheel resurfaced to proper spec!). EDIT >> forgot about the boost issue...you have to keep in mind, 4th anf 5th gear aren't going to pull like the first three if you're on the T25. especially if you're in 5th at like 2,000rpm's and nail the gas. you're hardly going to go anywhere. you can check for boost leaks with a homemade tester, but i don't see this being a boost leak. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
