1996 V-6 4 Runner-No heat/No Airo

I have a 1996 4Runner that just lost it's air (some cool,not cold) the heater is not blowing hot air (coiencedence ?) the blower is blowing. The temp gauge on the dash is not moving up. Is this a relay problem? is there a temp sensor that has gone bad ? I figured if heater core has gone bad I would have some other problems too. How about the Compressor, would it affect the heater as well. I am pretty mechanically inclined but I need some direction. Thank you very much Terry S. Hodges

So you have no AC or heat, and the blower fan works?
And the temp gage doesn't show a coolant temp?

Sounds like 2 or more issues.
For heat, do you have proper coolant level in rad?

After truck is warmed up, do the upper and lower rad hoses feel hot?
Can you see coolant moving thru rad when cap is off?
When you move the hot-cold control on the dash does the heater valve on the firewall move?
Do the heater hoses feel hot?


For AC, does the compressor come on when you hit the switch?
Are you low on refridgerant (check sight glass for bubbles, bubbles = low).
