SLR MCLAREN doors on a cavy?Demongrowl 11-10-2005, 02:18 PM I have been thinking about this for a while and think i have a way to do it. I think two U hinges on each door attatched to the windshield pillar and one or two gas shocks, much like from the lambo kits, would work. There should be enough structure in the windshield pillars to support the weight, but i am worried about the need to reinforce the door. I wouldn't want the door to twist and shatter the window. But it would be pretty easy to cut some with a plasma cutter and weld in some tube stock around the window to stop the twisting. What do you guys this? colinlesser 11-10-2005, 02:34 PM wtf? your talking about doing lambos right? Viper_Storm 11-10-2005, 07:21 PM wtf? your talking about doing lambos right? im not even sure how them doors open, they might be lambo style or they might be gull wing style (like that car in 'back to the future' (i cant spell it so i will just say it starts with a D.)). pretty sure they are lambo style tho. bh04 11-10-2005, 07:48 PM colinlesser 11-10-2005, 07:52 PM man a flux capacitor would be sweet to put in a cavy, and if your talking about the new SLR yes they are lambo style, but if your talking about a old slr they are the seagull style.... man thats it im gunna find a flux capacitor on ebay or somthing , imagine if it was a cavy instad of a delorean, also did you know the guy that made the delorean was a cocaine frrrreeeaaakkk? and thats why the company went to shit , he snorted all the profits ImSoYesterday 11-10-2005, 11:03 PM a flux capacitor is just a capacitor with flux in it to increase resistance and ultimately safety through the capacitor. more insulation with a bigger capacitor on the same value as a non flux. colinlesser 11-10-2005, 11:27 PM smart ass Demongrowl 11-11-2005, 10:52 AM No, They are a modified gull wing door, Go to this link to see it http://www.daimlerchrysler.com.br/noticias/Agosto/SLR_McLaren/images/SLR_Mclaren_07.jpg http://www.amotor.no/pubsys/bilder/mercedes/MB%20SLR%20McLaren%20006.jpg http://modelart.co.kr/movie/slr/SLR-McLaren-2003-11.jpg KustmAce 11-11-2005, 01:45 PM If he was doing lambos he probably would have said lambos.... Anyway, you pull off some sturdy hinges for those bad boys and Ill be the first in line for a set. cficare68 11-11-2005, 08:06 PM man a flux capacitor would be sweet to put in a cavy, and if your talking about the new SLR yes they are lambo style, but if your talking about a old slr they are the seagull style.... man thats it im gunna find a flux capacitor on ebay or somthing , imagine if it was a cavy instad of a delorean, also did you know the guy that made the delorean was a cocaine frrrreeeaaakkk? and thats why the company went to shit , he snorted all the profits Yeah that is also part of the reason that the Delorean is bullet proof as well. colinlesser 11-11-2005, 08:20 PM bullet proof may ass those things are like tin cans i cant remember what the bodys were made of, i think it was aluminum or stainless steel butim pretty sure it was aluminum or as they say in europe (ala-mini-um) cficare68 11-11-2005, 08:31 PM They are made out of stainless steel colinlesser 11-11-2005, 08:36 PM imagine if you had a delorean wouldnt that be sweet? id set it up with a deasil engine and make it look like the back to the future one then covert it to a bio-deasil and put the fuel in where the food processor on the top of the back is like in the movie that would be awsome cficare68 11-11-2005, 08:54 PM Yeah If I had one that is probably what I would do with it. I actually know where one is at. I think it was abandoned because it is always sitting in front of this old run down building and if I recall correctly I don't believe there are any tags on it. Schister66 11-11-2005, 08:56 PM WTF? I thought we were talking about SLR McLaren or Lamborghini doors? BTW....its diesel bh04 11-12-2005, 01:20 AM The doors would look tight on a cavalier yes. Do it! colinlesser 11-12-2005, 08:02 AM normally i would be all about a mod like that but i just dont think a cavy has the shape for that it would probably look retarded the doors frames couldnt support the doors i dont belive jerseycavyz24 11-12-2005, 12:14 PM hmm i dont think the pillars would be strong enough to hold the door either, they r pretty heavy, but it would be pretty sweet though if u could figure out a way of doing it. colinlesser 11-12-2005, 01:58 PM plus heed have to move the door latch 01Cavy 11-12-2005, 04:02 PM Yeah If I had one that is probably what I would do with it. I actually know where one is at. I think it was abandoned because it is always sitting in front of this old run down building and if I recall correctly I don't believe there are any tags on it. If you want it, check and see if the car is on private property. If its not then you can go to the dmv and claim it after a certain amount of time. I think you have to go to the dmv and tell them that the car is there and that you want to claim it and then after a certain amount of time go back and claim it. At least you can do that in Alabama. A friend of mine was going to get an abandoned supra that way, but it turned out it was on private property and not public. Wouldn't hurt to ask though. colinlesser 11-12-2005, 04:13 PM jerseycavyz24 wow that girl on the right of you sig has a HUGE ASS! jerseycavyz24 11-12-2005, 06:19 PM lmao! yea it was pretty big 89Sunbird 11-12-2005, 08:20 PM Those are called butterfly doors...I doubt GM would make frames that could support the weight of our doors... And I found this in a private parking lot ;) http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/2853/10027485rf.jpg\ They said it still runs :) colinlesser 11-12-2005, 09:02 PM whos?
