spark plug question

I have a miss while idling and when in a pull. Put on new Beldin wires but is worse. I see flashing at the spark plug boot on most of the plugs but do not see any flashes in the wires. Is this normal or are my wires bad? I used silicone on the boots but no difference. Hate to go buy more expensive wires if not necessary.

If you see flashing at the boots, it is not normal. If you can see it, it is not getting to the plug electrode.

Should I replace the wires or try to tighten the connection? Does it matter which end of the wire goes on the plug? I put the longer boot on the plug. There was not much difference between the two ends but one was slightly longer

Current will always take the least resistance to ground. I would make sure that the resistance of the wires is good and then make sure the plug wire is completely inserted onto the spark plug. Also make sure that the plugs are not cracked or damaged.

It sounds to me like the ceramic on some of your plugs has been cracked. You will see multiple, blueish arc lines down the sides of these plugs when they fire if this is the case. A simple visual of the plugs may not show any cracks unless you use a dye or stain. PS the replacement wires should look like and go on exactly like the originals.l
