Exhaust questionchristophv 11-05-2005, 06:40 PM Hi, I'm searching for a nice cat-back exhaust. Sound's important. It should have a high buzzing sound. I don't like deep rumblemumble, rather high tone buzz/purr (farting :D) Only examples I heard so far was an RX7-FD from the Drift Bible and ...sorry ...one car in the 'too fast too furious' movie. Can you give advise what I should look for? nissanfanatic 11-05-2005, 07:47 PM Tanabe or just a straight pipe. Apexi N1 is pretty loud NA with no silencer. R.W., was it the Dart Izumi that was basically a straight pipe and was loud as hell? R.W.240 11-05-2005, 09:46 PM Eh... I tried to get the DI but Kuah said he couldnt get it, so I got the KTS Titanium. The Buddyclub Spec III sounds like an propeller airplane on a N/A KA if thats what your into. Any non resonated 80mm will be loud and buzzy on a KA or Farty on a stock manifold SR. driftking777 11-05-2005, 11:30 PM never heard anyone go for the rice sound...weird...i love my deep throaty exhuast...makes it sound like power, instead of a reved up lawn mower...IMO nissan_240sx 11-06-2005, 12:04 AM what kinda exhaust do you have driftking? driftking777 11-06-2005, 02:17 AM i love my deep throaty exhuast...makes it sound like power, instead of a reved up lawn mower...IMO i said it in the post...its no, v8 rumble, but for a 4 banger...its pretty throaty...apexi gt spec, no cat... driftking777 11-06-2005, 02:18 AM sorry kinda misread your post...but anywho i did answered your question... christophv 11-06-2005, 07:36 AM I'm sorry, I forgot to mention it: We don't have KA24Es in our S13s, we got the CA18-DET. Propeller airplane sounds good indeed :D But not too loud! edit: Now that's interesting. driftking, you said I'd go for the rice sound - Well, all ricers (mainly domestic ricers) here got stock exhausts with laaarge cans in the back (no performance improvement) sounding deep like ship engines. While still having stock engines.. mostly seen on 90hp-golfs and 316 bmws. So thats definitely a reason for me to go for a different (and real performance) exhaust and sound, right? Plus, I've heard my desired sound in some motorsports-footage, coming mainly from RX7 FCs and FDs. orestes 11-06-2005, 01:02 PM um if what your saying is you want the sound of the rotary, thats not gonna happen. just get one of the ones mentioned that is a straight pipe driftking777 11-06-2005, 01:50 PM driftking, you said I'd go for the rice sound - Well, all ricers (mainly domestic ricers) here got stock exhausts with laaarge cans in the back (no performance improvement) sounding deep like ship engines. Plus, I've heard my desired sound in some motorsports-footage, coming mainly from RX7 FCs and FDs. just about any turbo car with have a throaty exhaust do to the turbo (on a quality cat back system) also...i own a RX7 also, no just my SR240 and yes they sound very ricey. im running a full open exhaust on it right now (no cat) and it sounds like a pissed off lawn mower...i personally like to have an exhaust that gives me power, and throatiness. dont exactly know where your from but since your 240 has the ca18det then you must be in england or europe (duh) so what exatly to you call domestic there? you said BMW's a VW's...BMWs will generally run throaty exhaust due to most running v6's and v8s...but i wouldnt think a golf would be throaty...anywho...good luck with the exhaust though... christophv 11-06-2005, 02:24 PM due to most running v6's and v8s Are you serious? I'm not checking this, but there is no V6 BMW. Most of the ricer BMWs here have straight 4cyl, like 316, 318. 320 6cyl is also pretty common, but there's no V6 and few V8s (that would mean 745s, 645s, 545s) The newer ones, like E46 and up aren't affordable for our ricers :) I'm from germany, where "tuners" like BMWs, VWs and Opels. The tuning scene is pretty lame here. "Tuning" doesn't mean increasing performance here. It means you have a neon-green Golf III with tinted windows an 100$ rims. Of course, there are also a lot of pretty decent and expensive cars, with big rims and custom paintjobs. running a stock economy engine. here are fotos from a "tuner treffen" in a city near me.. http://www.roaring-thunder.de/treffen/galerien/HL/slides/01070.JPG corolla racin!!11! http://www.roaring-thunder.de/treffen/galerien/HL/slides/01057.JPG most frequent color. watch those max-hp-racers in the back!! http://www.roaring-thunder.de/treffen/galerien/HL/slides/DSC01025.JPG In fact, the tuners are all fucked up. I'd be one of the first around here, running a nice clean 200SX (thats an S13 hatchback w/ CA18-DET here) with no stickers and no crappy attn-whore paintjob. will be hard to find people who also enjoy motorsports like drifting, AutoX/Slalom etc. orestes 11-06-2005, 02:43 PM wow i had no idea it was so lame over there. and personally i would say go for apex gt-spec (sounds good on everything) or something titanium. christophv 11-06-2005, 03:52 PM well, it's slooowly changing to more performance aftermarket. Of course we have the F&F craze. we'll see what happens if the F&F 3 movie features drifting. probably 99% bad effect, maybe 1% enthusiasts with interest in real sports. hmmm makes me think. I don't know why I like drifting. I don't know how I came to it, but definitely not by F&F/2F2F R.W.240 11-06-2005, 10:44 PM Alls I knows is that thats this needs to get here before my interior rattles itself to peices. http://www.kts-web.com/product/ex/img/me_lv4.jpg NissanElitist 11-08-2005, 02:22 PM Alls I knows is that thats this needs to get here before my interior rattles itself to peices. http://www.kts-web.com/product/ex/img/me_lv4.jpg It's not that bad, ya pansy. Get a Blitz Nur Spec, they sound good on anything. Even stock manifold SR's don't sound farty. AWDSR20 11-08-2005, 02:40 PM HKS highpower... yay..join the bandwagon (i had that exaust bfr ya all! lol!) man, everone and there mama has the HKS high power =..( vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
