So what's everyone's plans for next season/yearchevytrucks92 11-03-2005, 09:10 PM Well, as bad as I hate to admit it, its that time of year. Racing season is winding down and the winter season is gearing up. So what's everyone's plans for their rides, be it a dedicated track car or daily driver? I've got a few. I'm still going to attend atleast one more race, and that will be November 13 at Mountain Park Dragway (www.mpdragway.com (http://www.mpdragway.com)) in Clay City, KY. That will wrap up my true "rookie season" of driving, even though I did drive in about 11 races last year. Anyways, after this season is over I got a few plans/goals set up for next year. My goals: -to double my final round appearences (made it to 4 thus far so I want to make it to atleast 8 next year). -make as many semi-finals as I have so far this year (made it to 3 or 4 cars atleast 10 times this year) -atleast make it to the semi-final round once at one of those other tracks I go to. -and to try and win atleast one round of competition in every event I enter, even if it is just a buy back round, lol. My plans for the car: -overhaul my 355 and change it from a flat-top to a dome motor with about 14:1 compression and run it next year. -rebuild my 406's bottem end and change it from a flat-top to a dome motor with around 13:1 compression and keep it on stand-by. My performance goals: -have the car run low 6.80s/high 6.70s in the 1/8th and break the 100 mph barrier (with the 355). -top off the 406 shortblock that will get overhauled with a set of heads with 2.10/1.6 valves and a tunnel ram. I write this as a goal because I'm hoping a 406 with a tunnel ram would put my car close to the 6.50s range in the 1/8th mile, and thats my ultimate performance goal. Andydg 11-03-2005, 09:20 PM My plans are to get a car and actually do some form of racing that's not street racing. Whatever I get I'll prolly just take it to RT.66 and run the 1/4 since there aren't any autocross events around here that I've found. RACER D12 11-03-2005, 09:47 PM Well Im in the process of selling my car, after thats done I will be about halfway to a 944 turbo. So ill just be working over the winter saving up the rest, Then when spring rolls around I'll be rolling in one of these babies :smokin: (see sig) Mediocrity 11-03-2005, 09:48 PM For next year? I hope to have the Omni running in a semi quick fashion. Run in a couple of AutoX events and maybe a drag. GForce957 11-03-2005, 09:53 PM Purchase a Mach 1 or LS1 flatlander757 11-03-2005, 09:58 PM Well I'm hoping to have my entire exhaust overhauled... LT headers > dual electric cutouts > offroad y pipe > stock cat back I want a sleeper... til I hit the buttons :licka: Basically open headers at the flip of a switch. Also I need a damn CAI. And I'm hoping to save some money up and rebuild my engine as a 355 with a goal of 370whp(automatic.. so in a manual it would be about 400whp). flatlander757 11-03-2005, 10:04 PM Well I'm hoping to have my entire exhaust overhauled... Rt.66 hosts auto-x events as well. flatlander, on a side note, not flaming or anything, I kind of doubt that just the transmission makes a 30rwhp difference. See my other thread about my dilema. Andydg 11-03-2005, 11:59 PM Rt.66 hosts auto-x events as well. Holy shit!!! That's awesome!!! Add that to my list then too. Mainly due to the launch. chevytrucks92 11-04-2005, 05:44 PM Buy and begin to build the car. As for the auto/manual trannie arguement: autos are the best choice for drag racing, bracket (especially bracket) or heads up, unless you can buy a Lenko. When you change gears in a manual, you loose time (unless you have a Lenko). When you build a race transmission, you typically have a manual valve body installed so you have to shift gears your self anyways (or be like me and have an electric or air shifter :naughty:).
