95 Blazer #6 cylinder missfire

I have tried searching but have come up empty. I have a 95 blazer with the vortex engine with a miss in the #6 cylinder. I have replaced all plugs and wires, rotor and cap. Ran injector cleaner through two tanks. Full compression on that cylinder and the one next to it. I could smell gas getting into the cylinder. I seem to be getting gas, compression, and spark but I still get a missfire. I need help. if you have any ideas please let me know.

Thanks

Chris

The injector poppet on cylinder 6 may be stuck open, OR, your injector may be going bad and not firing enough fuel into the chamber...

IF it was a poppet stuck open would I still have compression, and I dont think it is the injector because I dont believe there is an injector for each cylinder, I believe the fuel is injected through the throtle body. Thanks for the ideas. I will do some more investigation.

You state you have comression, that's a good thing... Secondly you have a batch fired injector system, meaning that all injectors are fired at the same time from the same place (Hence Central Port Injection) Unline 96+ engines which are sequentially fired. So If you have a stuck poppet on that cylinder and it's dumping too much fuel, that can cause your issue, or if the cpi is going bad, it's not pumping enough fuel into that cylinder... Both can cause these problems.

and don't rule out a bad plug, or plug wire...could be a simple fix...good luck

Not sure if this has any relation to your engine year model but I had a pretty consistent misfire code showing up as P0301 (1998 Blazer LT) and it turned out to be a stuck EGR (No EGR Code). I can't explain why it was throwing only the one cylinder but cleaning the EGR and replacing the gasket fixed my issue. The code would show up after reaching HW speeds and the misfire indicator (Flashing Check Engine Light) became more consistent with time.

Does anybody know if you could buy just one poppet, or if there is a way to test to see if the poppet is bad. I have been riding my motorcycle to work but it is going to get cold, so would I be hurting the engine if I drive it while I try to get it fixed.

Thanks

Chris

No the poppets are part of teh line which is part of the injector unit... Try pulling your upper plenum and check for washing. And as mentioned above try pulling your egr and cleaning it for giggles...
