Lamp Monitor - Taillamps

I had to replace the tail lense assembly on the passenger rear of my 95 bonne. A simple job, but after plugging in all the bulb sockets my lamp monitor on the dash now says I have a tail lamp out. I have checked them all, brake, driving, reverse, turn, and they all work. I have unplugged the sockets and inspected each one, both sides, and EVERYTHING is illuminated. Is there something else that will trigger the lamp monitor that I caused when replacing the lense and unplugging all the sockets? Is there something else to check, a ground or connection?

Tray to desconect your positive batery cable for a few seconds.

Have you checked the license plate lights? I've heard they can cause some flukey things with the lamp monitor.

I checked the license plate lights (almost missed them and was disappointed to find them both working). Since I posted the problem
the monitor has been coming on sometimes and NOT coming on sometimes. It varies and doesn't seem to have a pattern - like brake pedal, hitting chuck hole, or night-time driving. It's just random.
The alarm goes off sometimes, other times just the light on the dash.
I don't know. I will disconnect the battery as soon as I find the darn stereo password. I know it's around here somewhere????

Go back and inspect closely that tail assembly that you replaced. If all was fine prior to that being replaced, the problem has to be associated with the new tail assembly, right? All rear lighting is normal brilliance? When applying the brake, do any of the of the other tails dim?

I was hoping that someone might know if there is a ground that has to be properly secured or maybe a little info on how the monitor actually works to help me track down possible causes. I agree the lense assembly started the problem but it is a simple plastic piece held on with three nuts. All the sockets are from one harness and just plug in with a twist. What could be easier? Or better yet, what could be wrong?
To answer your question, all the lights seem bright but I could just go buy all new bulbs if you guys think it may help.

I think a computer module (not sure if PCM) looks at the ckt impedence (too high impedence would actuate lamp monitor), then determines the status. Everything is contingent on solid grounding. Check your 3rd brake light also. You may have to remove it, clean it up then reinstall. I've heard sometimes this can cause problems with lamp monitor.

Have someone drive behind you and watch your lights.... It could be a loose or poor connection that is random...also clean the light sockets with Di-electric grease
