Just wanted to acknowledge our appreciation for the tremendous help the forum members are; we were having transmission problems and didn't know where to begin. Had no 1st gear or overdrive...truck was starting out in 2nd. A couple of members explained this 'safe mode' the computer initiates...and told us it was most likely electrical problems after seeing the computer error codes we posted.

Auto Zone checked our codes...said they were all transmission codes and said the PCM was most likely bad...ahh...$1200 or more.

The 'reputable' transmission shop we went to first insisted it was the front forward clutch and we would need a rebuild...even though we kept insisting it was likely electrical. (hmmm.... $1200 plus...)

We finally located a overworked honest transmission man who plugged in his computer...drove it and agreed that it was something electrical...when he got the time to check it, he replaced Solenoid A, Solenoid B and fixed another plug that was loose. Instant success...and under $200. An extra tip and a case of cold Bud for thanks and we were on the road again!

Trust what the members tell you here~they did us a huge favor.
Special thanks to: Blazee, MaxWedge, rlithe, & GMMerlin. Great people!

Speaking for all the guys, thanks for the heads up no.1 and no.2 having enough faith in the advice to follow the suggested path.

You're welcome and thanks for the kind words. Thank you for coming back and posting the conclusion, we seldom see that here. I'm glad to hear that you are up and going again, and saved some money. You can send us all a case of Bud if you'd like. :naughty:

Everyone reading this should learn at least one thing from it .......NEVER LISTEN TO THE ADVICE GIVEN AT AUTOZONE. It is nice that they will read the codes for people, but you must remember the guys that work there are cashiers, not technicians.

Thanks for giving them fellows credit and letting them know how you came out.
We are glad you did not let that first trans shop pull a rebuild on you when you did not need it.
Right on there Maxwedge, Blazee, Rlihe, and GMMerlin
