Did my 1994 Grand Prix come with keyless entry and other questions. Rottweiler28 10-30-2005, 05:36 AM
Hi people, wondering if you could help me with a small problem here? I was wondering if my vehicle came with factory remote keyless entry. I have seen in other posts that some of you could tell me by the last 8 digits of my VIN so here it is if it helps RF337994. It is a 1994 4 door Grand Prix, I think it is a SE but I am not certain. It does have a 3100 under the hood and is loaded with options, AC, PW, PL, CC ,Tilt Etc. I bought this car second hand and when I got it the key fob was for astrostart (Astroflex) Has 6 buttons, door lock, unlock, trunk release, start, stop and panic. The only thing that works on this is the car remote starter (which I doubt came stock) and stop, doors and trunk and panic do not, I would just like to get the keyless locks working if possible. I doubt if this unit came with the car but I am unsure. I have been to the astroflex website for reprograming instructions but they really don't tell you much besides take it to a local certified installer (Which by the way is only 178 Miles from me...lol. What I did find was pop the hood, turn the key to accesory, hit the brake once, turn the key from off to accessory 3 times in ten seconds and this should flash dash lights or blinker lights 3 times to let you know it is learn mode, this never happens, I have tried it many diff times and ways but never flashes for learn mode. Have tried reprogramming anyway via instructions but didn't work. I have searched for the main box under the dash but couldn't find that either.lol. I have also looked for the wire in the trunk that leads to nothing to recycle the locks but could not find that either. If this has to be programmed by way of astroflex do ay of you guys install them...lmao, that would be sweet. Any ideas or comments? Thanks. richtazz 10-31-2005, 11:12 AM Your car did not have factory keyless entry. What you have is an aftermarket system, so the trunk wire for programming mode isn't there. Your car is an SE with special Canadian equipment and a factory block heater. It also lists an option code for a "tap in" Natural gas vehicle option. Thank you very kindly, I appreciate that a lot, even though I don't have any idea what the gas thing is about..lol. Thanks again :) richtazz 10-31-2005, 01:24 PM I thought that was bizarre too, that's why I mentioned it. Rottweiler28 11-01-2005, 07:25 AM Well I got it working, I took it to a friend who said that the car starter was hooked up but the trunk and door locks were not so he went and wired up the door locks for me and the park lights that flash when you lock and unlock and start it. Awsome :D Thanks again for the info guys, much appreciated. richtazz 11-01-2005, 09:18 AM That's what we're here for, glad we could help you and you got it working.
