Side Molding Customizingdnkygirl 05-24-2002, 06:22 PM I am thinking about changing the size of the door molding...making it a smaller line across. What's the best stuff to use to fill up spaces like this? I used bondo to repair a part inside.. that stuff is not very stiff and takes forever to dry. Any suggestions? dnkygirl mattzneon 05-27-2002, 10:42 AM Well... Personally I avoid usin' Bondo on doors at all. The slamming of them is just... Ugh! Not good for Bondo. It crackz! I am not too sure what you're wanting to do, but soundz lyke you may want some tak-welding done as opposed to play-doe for cars. Matt dnkygirl 05-27-2002, 07:08 PM The side door molding will not match the body kit lines on of the invader kit. I want to try to match them up a little by reducing the size of the lines on the doors. Actually the Invader kit has no lines at all except where the bumper meets the frame... oh just me being picky i guess. So Bondo cracks.. yeah.. just as i thought. I'm trying to keep cost down by doing some of the custom work myself. I might just fill in the whole thing and not have any door lines... there's gotta be something out there that's not going to crack over time. dnkygirl dnkygirl 05-27-2002, 07:09 PM Hey what about fiber glass ? dnkygirl KatWoman 05-29-2002, 01:14 PM Be careful with fiberglass, if you put too much catalyst in it, it will get hot enough to warp the metal on your doorskin. We used fibeglass in my trunklid as a soundproofing experiment. Mix was just a little hot. Needless to say I have nasty ripples in my trunk lid. Fortunately my spoiler covers them for the most part:D On the bright side, the trunk lid doesn't rattle and I do have a spare trunk lid...just needs to be painted. dnkygirl 05-29-2002, 02:40 PM Hey thanks Kat, I'm thinking about just leaving it.. too much work. After i removed the side moldings.. it looks ok. I am just going to wait until i get the bodykit and decide for sure then. Dnkygirl vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
