engine gurgling sound

I recently inherited a 1992 PA that belonged to my grandmother. The car looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor :biggrin: and has only 39,000 mi. The only problem that I am having is the sound coming from the engine. It idles slightly rough, but not bad. When I press on the gas, I hear a weird gurgle sound :confused: . It only does it during acceleration. I tried to recreate the sound with the car in park, but heard nothing. Also, there is no power loss when accelerating, just the noise. Anyone have any clues as to what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

Cheap Gas? Try some higher octane gas. It could also be something odd like lifter/valve train noise. You also may have a vacuum leak causing it to go lean and then you get detonation. Good Luck.

Check your antifreeze level or it could be a heater core getting ready to let go (if it didn't already, just enough to introduce air into the cooling system).
