CPI Injector assem. does the brand matter?

Well after 195,000 miles my CPI injector started leaking. Im about to go get a new one and a nut kit. I'm curious however if the brand seems to matter any. AC-Delco vs. GP-Sorensen found at the parts stores like Autozone.

You guys chime in with your experiences on those brands. Im curious if the GP-Sorensen is worth a damn or not.

I would stay with the AC Delco.

Second vote here to stick with OEM AC-Delco too. It's what the truck left the plant with, and that's what's going back into it. :) Don't skimp on fuel delivery, sensors and brakes.

I dunno about that, I've not had problems with the GP Sorensons myself...

Well, if it's good enough for the Teal Beast then, it's good all around. The problem I only had with it was when I went CPI shopping, they would not even let me inspect the part before purchase - so I took my dough and bargaining power across town to the dealership's wholesale distributor and got the AC-Declo parts - they let me open the box to look before purchase. I just have a wary-alarm that goes off when a parts place will not let me inspect the goods before purchase. *shrug*

thanks for the responses thus far....

the two reasons im considering the GP-Sorenson is that i can take it back to a local parts house for replacement if need be, and it certainly costs less than the over-priced dealerships parts counter.

i can order the AC-Delco, however theres that possibility of having to ship a defective unit back and wait for a replacement. and with two drivers in the house and two vehicles, i cant have one down waiting for parts.

anyone else have any experience with the GP-Sorenson part?

How much can you buy the GP-Sorenson part for? Can you get the "Nut" kit from them as well?

$280 for th GP. CPI unit. the nut kit is a dealer item, at about $50.

I know you were concerned about a defective unit and the hassle with replacing/returning it, for what it is worth, I'd be more leary of an AM unit going out in the first year as opposed to the OEM unit.

You might consider this GM fuel Injector replacement kit (Genuine GM parts) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-Fuel-Injector-Spider-Replacement-kit-4-3-Chevy-GMC_W0QQitemZ8010307615QQcategoryZ33554QQssPageNam eZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). It is less than your aftermarket part, comes complete with two gaskets (you'll only need the upper plenum gasket), and you get a GM part deparmtent reciept. Most likely it is a GM employee that is buying and selling at a small profit. From the price point for the buy it now, it is in line with what my main GM parts supplier sells parts to my shop for, with them making about 10% (they do this for me when it concerns my personal vehicles, otherwise I would pay a bit higher price).

If it were me, I'd take the saving and not look back. If it did fail with in the year, how far away can a GM dealer be from you? Most dealerships (no matter how small), carry a couple of these units in stock.

i had found that seller on ebay, selling just the cpi unit, however neither listing says anything about getting a GM part deparmtent receipt. the listing tells you to ship it back to them.

Check my previous post, has link to the receipt guy. He gives a phone number in his auction. You could probably call them and bypass ebay and get the entire kit. I think he usually listed the lines, gasket and injector for 308.00 with free shipping.

i called them and got the the cpi unit, nut kit, and gaskets for $320 shipped 2nd day air.

so long as that receipt gets me an exchange at a local dealer if need be, i'll be happy.

got my parts today, everything went without problems. it actually took more time to clean the interior of the intake then it did to take it apart and put it back together.

all in all, a very easy job.
