1995 Blazer Dripping Oil...I think from...

My 1995 Blazer is dripping oil when left for a period of time, not a lot just but enough to have me worried…there is a special door for the oil filter I think, why does it have a door you have to open and is not just under the car like most?

Anyways, I notice there is a filter ( how many filters are on this car that you have to get changed with your oil?) with 2 lines coming out of it, it looks like its dripping from the end of the connecter?

Any suggestions guys?

You have the typical oil cooler line leek... Simply replace the lines and you'll be fine... DO NOT LET THEM CONTINUE TO LEAK! You don't want them completely blowing at the wrong time.

As to how many filters for oil, like most cars, just one.

The reason the door is there is because that's a skid plate... Wouldn't want to damage the oil cooler without it...:)

mine has the same problem. when i park it for a while, it will leave a few drips on the ground. There are o-rings on the hose connections that will go bad, like mine have. Its a little messy if those lines decide to blow.

It's not o-rings, it's the crimps that are bad... The newer version has 3 crimps vs 2 which typically prevents that from happening.

Is this a job that you can do yourself or do you have to take it in? If you can do it yourself do you have the drain the oil first? do you have to remove anything? Better yet can someone describe how to do the job, or know of a website that describes how?

-Thanks

You wouldn't have to drain the oil from the pan, however, the lines and oil filter will have oil in them which will spill out when removed. Best to just plan an oil and filter change at time of oil line change.

Yeah, it's pretty easy... You will get some new crush washers with your lines...You don't necessarily have to do an oil change, about a pint or so will come out, but you can do an oil change if you want...

I was alittle hesitant after reading this from another site... What do you think about this....

I just replace my oil lines on my 94 4.3L (106K Miles at the time) about a month ago. Not fun.
for a while they leaked slowly, then got progressively worse.
Fortunately I own a lift in my garage, it's Pure gold. And even then it wasn't fun. The hardest part was removing a bolt on the engine that holds a transmission support bar. remove the drivers side tire to gain access to the bolt. You have to remove this because it goes through the center of the metal lines. a total brain-fart by chevy. but then again, it helps to boost their service work.

To remove the bolt as described by the above post, get a 2-3foot extension with a universal on the end, or two 15 inch extensions, and go at it from the front of the vehicle. Having a helping hand is an absolute must.

My advice, don't cut then out, take them out as if you plan on using them again, the knowledge gained from how they came out is very helpful when installing the new ones. Just be careful and VERY patient

94 is different because of the placement of the remote oil filter on the inside drivers fenderwell vs 95-current which is mounted under the radiator..

gotch ya. i think my truck had one blow in the past cause there is a lot of sludge in front of the engine and in that skid plate. i know my o rings at the oil filter are leaking but the lines look ok.
