weird problem when traveling long distance!

I have a 94 Dodge Ram van and has a weird problem. When I travel long distances and stop for gas or anything else, the van won't start. It cranks but won't start. After letting it sit for 20-30 minutes, it starts back up again and is fine. Few times has happened while I was driving. On short distances, there is no problem at all, it starts up fine.
I had the fuel pump replaced, a couple relays connected to the fuel system and the the pickup coil. Same problem.
Someone suggested is a vapor lock but others dismissed it.
Any suggestions??

This van is fuel injected, right?

I'm thinking that maybe a sensor gets too hot. Are there any codes the computer is putting out? I'd think that it might be the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor, the failure of either would cause the problem.

I don't know how to read the computer or have the equipment to do it. How would you suggest to do this?:2cents:

I think it's: on-off-on-off-on

with the ignition switch, in a 10 second period. Check the Dodge pickup forum, there are several threads there with the details (and codes). Do a search under codes and you should find a wealth of information.

I'd do it while you're experiencing the problem.

I have nearly the same problem with my 1992 dodge 250 van w/tpi. I have had almost all of the engine electronics changed. My van has only let me down two times, both times in extremely hot weather. Naturally it happens in a service station stall so I have to push it out. It restarts after 10 minutes and then runs fine. It does post a code 52 shortly before or after this happens but it doesn't seem to affect the driving or milage. The code goes out when I disconnect the battery and doesn't come back on. Any ideas?

I did not know about engine codes, so I started to put attention to them but I have not discovered anything unusual except, I just changed my alternator, which went bad, I have known for sometime that is started to go out, since then I have not have any problems. Does the alternator have a computer code?
Hopefully this will solve all the problems, I'll let you know if this was the real problem.
