96 Ultra door locks u/s when placed in park

Hi My door locks work in one direction only. They work fine (lock)when transmission is put in drive....But when you place transmission in park they do not unlock. All other lock functions are working normally
ie remote or push buttons......I thought maybe the shifter switch on the transmission....any ideas

Try moving the shift lever through the complete range (P-R-OD-3-2-1) and back to park and see if it works.

do you have a owners manual? chance your car islike my malibu and has programable door locks. I can't remember the exact procedure. but hold the power lock button down for 10 seconds, listen for chimes. for how many chimes you hear is the power lock mode you have now. to change it, hold the lock button for 10 seconds again, you probably want mode one which is locks when above 5 mph and unlocks after you shut off car.

Hold down the ENG/MET button until the message area says something like "Welcome to Buick" and then hit the button again to scroll through the options. The Reset button changes the values.
