95 Geo tracker 4wd. my brake pedal pulses bad. the steering wheel is smooth. there are no vibrations except when braking. you can also feel the pulsing in the parking brake handle if you pull it while driving. i thought no big deal, i had the drums turned, replaced the shoes and hardware, and decided to go ahead and replace the front pads and rotors. the vibration was still there, so i decided to go ahead and replace the drums(not cheap), but the vibration is STILL THERE! i am convinced it is something in the rear brakes, because you can feel it in the parking brake handle, but the only thing thats left to replace is the wheel cylinders, and they aren't leaking. the vibration is only there while braking. any suggestions?

did you try bleeding the brakes.

yes, i bleed the front and rear until the fluid looked new, but found no air, just 10 year old fluid.

was this an all of a sudden thing or did something happen causing this problem.also if your driving and put it into neautral and pull the handle does it still vibrate.

the right side backing plate was warped just enough to keep the shoes from resting againt it properly. replacement was a ROYAL pain in the @$$.

Glad you found the problem. Your solution may help me find the pulsation in the brakes on my '92. Originally the right front wheel bearing was broken into 2 pieces. Now I'm wondering if I have bad/old hoses or a backing plate problem. Also after extensive bleeding the brakes are still quite soft, so I'm thinking cylinder/piston/seal replacement.
