94 park ave fuel problem

Hi everybody, I have a problem with my buick dying whenever it gets below a quarter tank. Also there seems to be less acceleration power when driving. Ususally when it's low on gas and I stop at a light or whatever the engine struggles and the battery drops its charge, but if I throw her in neutral it keeps running. I think its the fuel pump but I wanted a second opinion before I replace it. Ive already replaced the fuel filter, which seemed to help but it still dies when the gas is low. Any suggestions? It also has a small exhaust leak and I just replaced the water pumpand gave it and oil change, if that helps anyone. Any advice/suggestions are appriciated. Thanks

Very routine check here, when it runs that low, check the fuel pressure at the port on the rails at least 35 needed.

So you think its the fuel pump, or is there something else that might cause the problem? I have all kinds of suggestions, one guy I talked to thinks its possesed.

If you change the fuel pump, be sure to replace the (sock) strainer on the fuel pick-up tube.

It sounds like the fuel pump...when the tank is full there is more pressure to the pump because of the weight of the fuel. and the pump doesnt have to work as hardless fuel the pump has to work harder

Please let me know if you have this tested and the pump is bad or if you replace it and it fixes the problem. I have a '91 PA that has the same symptom. Actually, it's my daugher's. It wouldn't start for her at school. I checked and it showed a little under quarter of a tank. Based on what she told me, it sounded like a fuel problem. I thought maybe the gauge was bad so I filled it with 2 gal from a gas can and it started right up. I put another 13.6 gal in it right away. That gave me 15.6 out of an 18 gal tank. This tells me there was still 2+ gal in it, the gauge was correct.

Turns out it was the fuel pump. Also replaced the fuel, air, and oil filters, changed the plugs, and replaced the water pump. Car runs like it was new.
