alright so i know what engine fits in my car and all that stuff but what i really want to know is that, if you put a JDM engine in your car. Like a Engine swap right... will I pass Emissions ??? Cuz i want to be able to keep this car. I have a 94 Toyota Tercel and i want to swap the engine to 4AGE 20 V which is a Toyota Make to ??? and also i have automatic transmission and 4AGE 20 V engines have 5 sp which i want to do..... but the question really is that Would i pass Emission and also what would i need to do if i have to change the car information. Like the report they give you when you go to emission. Like they know the car is suppose to be a automatic and with this engine and blah blah .. you know what i mean right ??? so someone please help me.... if you did a engine swap please read! and reply me ...

no jdm swap will be smog legal, you need an egr valve witch jdm engines dont have....you could do the swap and get it legalised but its not all worth the money....cost over $6 for a friend of hime to leagalize his h22 in his hatch, and he was only able to sell the car for 7k, the time and money isnt really worth it...if you gunna swap ur eitehr gunna have to buy an identical car and swap the plates and smog the one taht dosent have the car twice (once with its plates once with the plate sof the otehr car) and itll have to have the same mielage....or swap the OG engien back in every 2 (or whatever ur state is ) years back

if you do any kind of engine swap where it's not the same model, you're suppose to take it down to a ref where they will inspect it then if it passes them they put a special sticker on the inside of your door so when you go to get smogged they will look at that sticker and then they smog your car according to the new motor. Well that's how it works here in CA.

im live in chicago, i have a friend who has a honda civic Hatchback who has a Acura legend engine in it and has a sticker in his engine bag that says .. legally engine swap or something like that.... you guys know where and how much i cost for me to do that.... im want to do a engine swap from 94 toyota tercel to a corolla engine JDM 4AGE 20v.

it wont be legal, you must be able to pass emissions and you wont be able to...but you can leaglize it stil but its ALOT more money to leagalize a non smoggable car

yea, you'll be looking at custom fabricating a new EGR valve onto your car with the associated smog equipement. Since in the states we never got the 20 valve motor. Why not look at any other motor if you want somethign smog legal?

you can get away with it in Arkansas, we don't have inspections anymore
