Power Folding Mirrors Malfunction.....please help

Hello,

I am new here.

My dad's 2001 xj8 has powerfolding exterior mirrors.

The problem is, when you push the button they unfold, then keep going past the usual position, all the way forward. Pushing the button again folds the mirror all the way back again. In other words, we can;t have the mirrors coreectly deployed.

The dealer told him it was a $2000 fix!?!?

i dont believe it, please tell me theres a better/cheaper way.

yes there is a cheaper fix if you are a jag tech.here it is there is a position sensor in the mirrior4 and it is out of sync.remove mirrior disassemble lube sensor ball joint reassemble and connect to computer to reprogram.sound simple enugh.make frinds with a jag tech!!!!!
