Will Bad Ignition Switch kill running engine?

I was heading home a couple of weeks ago when my Riv started to act like it was running out of gas (tank 3/4 full) and then the engine just stopped. It would turn over, but never start.

The weird thing is that NO E codes are showing up. Just a B code (b132) for the oil pressure sending unit, but that's been there for a few weeks. Always check the oil level before driving because I live so far from town - was OK.

After getting it to the garage, I tested for fuel flow (seemed OK) and Spark (NO spark). Just replaced the plugs with AC/Delco Platinums, also replaced the plug wires with Bosch Premiums. The Cam sensor has been replaced within the last 12 months. Swapped out Ign relay and checked fuses.

Checked cam and crank sensor. Replaced the Oil Pressure Sending Unit. Cleaned off the connections going to the ignition module, including the ground on the underside. Am about to order a new ignition module, since the other things haven't panned out.

So 2 questions:
1) Would a bad ignition switch be able to kill an engine that's already running? I could understand no spark during start-up, but I don't live in a bad area for electronic connections.

2) Would a plugged fuel filter not letting enough fuel get to the injectors also keep the PCM from allowing the Ignition Module to spark? I'm going to replace it anyway, but if it can - I'll wait to order the ign module.

check for an rpm signal if none crank sensor is defective... check for injection pulse.. if no pulse and no spark chances are the ign module is defective

to answer your questions it possible for the ign switch to shut down a car but very unlikely.. as for question #2 the answer is no

Thanks for the info. I was finally able to borrow a jack and crawl under the front. The CPS' middle vane is broken off, so I'm going to replace that and see what happens.
