hey everybody!...just wanted to put up a post to all the Trooper Tekkers out there that have flown in the face of convention with these vehicles. My wife is from New York and we met back in 2000, since that time seeing her and now visiting relatives, affords me the chance to attend the NYC auto show almost every year. I still remember the first time I looked at an Aztek. While I wasnt crazy about the amount of gray cladding (thank goodness they changed that the next year) I was really taken by the versatility of this vehicle. I love the buckets and floor shifter (find that in a minivan) the conventinal rear opening doors, the split tailgate/hatch and the longer hood which affords easier engine access than other minivan types. I recently purchased a used Montana sport van for my wife. I tried to get her to look at an Aztek for all the reasons listed above, but it was no deal on the looks alone. I personally dont see the whole issue here. I'll be the first to admit that it aint Lambo sexy, but then again the Hummer H2 is a homely dog in a oversized shoebox by any standard, yet its still considered fashionable (in someone elses world...not mine) I personally consider the Aztek sistership, the Buick Rendevous, to be far more unappealing than the Pontiac and it fails to boast all the great points the Aztek shines in.
These vehicles get far better fuel mileage than any light truck and can do almost as many tasks...I suppose one day I'll have one parked next to my Grand Prix for a workhorse...since my wife wont let me mod the Montana at all. In the final analysis, the new Batmobile proves function can make form look more appealing. Sometimes it just takes a little time to grow on you...I'll have my 02 and up Tek in black if you please.
