steering wheel is shaking at parkway speeds

Good Evening. I just had 4 new Goodyear Wrangler RT tires put on my 4 runner along with balancing the tires. This is the 3rd set since I owned the car and the other 2 sets gave me 65K miles with even wear.The next day at 60mph or higher the steeringwheel starts shaking up and down and I can feel it in the floorboards too. I went to Mavis Tire since it was near my work the following day and told them this and they rechecked and re balanced the tires as well as do a wheel alignment which they said was not that far out. They did say the balance was off on all 4 tires. When I took the car home on the parkway it still shakes! I took it to Toyota and had them look at it and they didnt have any answers.PS- they had that new device the GSP9700 Road Force Balancer and I think also that Haweka Flange Adapter but they never mentioned to me that it probably needed to be balanced with those devices! Back to the Mavis dealer they rotated the tires and still the problem.So what gives here. Any ideas? It doesnt seem to do this at lower speeds.I also just had all 4 brakes done several months back with the old tires on and it was ok. Thankyou.

I have a 2000 with Michelins and have had the same problem with stock tires and they told me the same thing. I put top of the line Michelins on and have same problem, only mine is much more noticeable if I have the A/C or defroster on.

I've been having the same problem with my 97. Never shaked at highway speeds until I had the tires (BFGoodrich Rugged Trails) rotated. Now at speeds between 55-65 there is a very noticable shaking in steering wheel. I've been told though to have the rims balanced on the special devices you mentioned.

OK So now I go to goodyear and they did the elaborate Road force balancing with that special machine the 9700. They found one rim to be bent and they balanced it and mounted it in the rear. The car still shakes at parkway speeds the same amount!! Im at my limits here!!That was $130 .Im going back to Toyaota tomorrow to tell them only balance the tires if you have that Haweka adapter flange.I tried to get an answer as to if they have this tool and they are a bunch of idiots.Like one hand doesnt know what the other is doing.All I know is with my old tires and original rims I didnt have this problem. Then with the new tires and new balancing I have it. 4 years ago I went to the same outfit for the same factroy tires and didnt have this problem.

Good luck man. Let us know your further history - specially if you solve the problem. Usually, the problem is solved by balancing on the Toyota balancer with the adapter.

Well after Toyota had me waiting for 7 hours! They used the haweka adaptor and the Road force hunter balancer and they found a bad tire and Not the rim as Goodyear had said.I tested it and it rides smooth now. So I had to go back to the tire place to get a replacement and then I went to goodyear to try and get reimbursed for the failed job at balancing they did on their Hunter balancer which they hit me for $130! All in all I spent over $300 in balancing trying to figure out what was wrong after trying to buy 4 new replacement tires.Now I know all about this crap and Im glad its over. Haweka adaptor is the most important part to at least balance the wheels correctly.The Hunter machine will balance them more to perfection than the others.More importantly it will find trouble areas as well but you still need a good man to do all of it.
