can the pcv valve be clogged.this would not let the engine breathe and the oil could be getting blown out of the dip stick tube.

I have a 96 and the same problem and it was my cam seal leaking. You could pull the front cover and look to see if thats where it is leaking. I changed them all because I have heard if you replace 1 it will blow out the others soon after. I pulled the motor and replaced all the seals and oil pan and valve cover gaskets cleaned out all the carbon in the upper intake. Now no leaks and my light is off also. I'm also a shadetree mech its not very hard to do. took me 2 days. Hope this helps. Also check out my post on EGR flow malfunction below. Helped Me.

You could go to autozone and buy an additive and put it in with the oil run it for a week then get back into the engine bay with a blacklight and see where the oil is leaking at. This would be good to do becuase you can fix all of the leaks.. Afterwards you need to change the oil and filter.
