replacing air bags

Got a 96' Windstar GL. When we bought our van the airbags were deployed. Since then we have bought new airbags from the local junk yard. We would like to know what all is entailed in reinstalling these? They came out really easy and I know they are going to go back in easy. I'm more concerned about setting the bags off again while reinstalling them. I'm wondering how I reset the airbag light? I've tried doing this in the past just to get it to go out/off and I know it doesn't reset the same way you would reset the check engine light. Can anybody help?

If you disconnect the battery cables the airbag system is deactivated and loses it's memory. Be sure to let them sit a for a minute (or a cup of coffee in the shop) to let the internal battery in the airbag module discharge. We had a newbie who didn't and got wallupped in the face. Good luck with it.

I was looking in my manual and would also like to add: when you reconnect your battery and turn your key on for the first time make sure you're out of the way of the bags. Open your window and reach over the collum so your arm isn't in the way of the bag.

Also, your bag light should light for 5 sec and then go out. If not you have other problems.
