99 Hubcapps

Hey,

My 99 gand am has this annoying rattle when i go over bumps ad railroad tracks and it really bugs me...i know its because the cheap plastic hub caps are rattling...i don't know what to do....is there a way to get rid of that....or am i stuck....i dont wanna get new caps and have the same rattling...basically....im just curious..is there a reason...should i just go buy new hubcaps or is there a way i can stop the rattling....i don't know...anything would help thanks...

Unfortunately the easiest way to get rid of the rattle of hub caps it to purchase new ones. Different caps attach if different ways and depending on how the caps fit the wheels would determine whether you can tighten them up. I would check a local wrecking yard, you should be able to get a new set for a very inexpensive price. If you really want to save the ones you have look at them to see if they can be spread slightly on the back if so do what you can and reinstall. It may cure the issue.

I've heard people that have the same problem put some plastic/rubber washers behind the hubcap stops the noise as well.
