here are the symptoms, the car has just over 100k miles.no a/c, just heat....
didn't have the problem over the summer at all, even when really hot out but as soon as it get's cold out and i start using the heater thi sproblem starts. when i sit and idle with the heat on (even low) the temp starts to rise. if i crank the heat to blow it out it the temp steadies a bit or if i start driving and crank the heat it soon returns to normal. i Do hear the fan coming on but it doesn't seem enough to cool it.
any advice or ideas? thanks!!

sometimes the speed of the fan is lower that normal so is not enought to cool the water in the radiator
meanning the fan is not working properly
whats the temp on the gauge being too hot?
also look for a restricted hose and check the termostat
maybe time to replace it
lemme know and ill try to help
