Spark Plugs - What's the Deal?notactingmyage 10-12-2005, 11:58 AM Sorry if this has been beat to death already, but I'm new to Taurus. I just inherited a 98 SE 3.0L with 75K miles. I'm in the process of doing some maintenance that was neglected by the octogenarian previous owner. I've pulled the plugs and looked at them; have decided to replace them. Have found the front 3 have a different number than the back 3. (AWSF32P in front, AWSF32PG in back) Why would they use different plugs in the same engine? Also, apparently these numbers have been superceded. Does anyone know of a website that would give a cross refernce to current equivalent? Thanks!! way2old 10-12-2005, 02:19 PM Try www.motorcraft.com The plugs could all be original and just installed by computer that has access to various plugs. We have new CV's that have different plugs in them. TomV 10-12-2005, 09:23 PM Sorry if this has been beat to death already, but I'm new to Taurus. I just inherited a 98 SE 3.0L with 75K miles. My Owner's Guide specifies AWSF-32PP with the following notes: Refer to the Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) decal for spark plug and gap information. If a spark plug is removed for inspection, it must be installed in the same cylinder. Cylinders 1, 2 and 3 have a PG suffix. Cylinders 4, 5 and 6 have a P suffix. If a spark plug needs to be replaced, use only spark plugs with the service part number prefix letter "PP" as shown on the engine decal. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
